Neil King joins Gulf Business
Sara Hamdan has joined Motivate Publishing as Editor of Dubai Magazine – a lifestyle quarterly, produced on behalf of Dubai Department of Tourism. Previously Deputy Editor at Viva magazine, and currently still contributor to the international New York Times in Dubai, Sara will cover the best restaurants, hotels, culture hotspots and activities Dubai has to offer.
“After over a decade of living in Dubai, I continue to be inspired every day by this dynamic city,” says Sara. “I am so excited about working with an all-star team at Dubai Tourism Dept to show tourists the best that Dubai has to offer.”
Mazin Siraj has been appointed as Sales Manager at Business Traveller Middle East. Previously, Sales Account Manager at Astro Digital Publications in Malaysia, Mazin brings with him extensive experience in media sales in print, TV and radio.
“This is a great opportunity to expand my horizons and I am pleased to be part of such a respected media company in the region,” says Mazin.
Samer Alloush has been appointed Senior Sales Manager at The Week. Samer most recently worked as Senior Sales Manager for OK! Middle East, and previously was the Senior Sales Manager at ITP Publishing for three and a half years across titles Refining & Petrochemicals ME, Oil & Gas ME, Utilities ME as well as Oil & Gas Al Arabiya.
In his new role with Motivate Publishing, he will sell advertising space, work to reach sponsorship targets and establish long-term relationships with clients.

Katie Coleman has joined Motivate Publishing as Sales Manager for The Week magazine in the Middle East. Joining the company from London, Katie most recently worked for Media Ten, where she was Advertising Sales Manager for Grand Designs Magazine and responsible for advertising on all platforms across the brand. In her new role, Katie will be looking after all advertising opportunities across the weekly, world affairs title.
“I am very excited about joining the Motivate team,” says Katie. “I am looking forward to getting out and meeting all of my clients and getting to know them individually. This will enable me to have a good understanding of their goals and objectives which will in turn allow me to use my knowledge of the publishing industry to create effective campaigns and see great results.”
Regional business magazine Gulf Business has been given a new look and approach to content. Through a portfolio of interactive editorial tools, the title enables its readers to enhance their professional development and maximise profits for business. The changes made mean that the Gulf Business team will now be able to cherry pick content from across the region and beyond, with a focus on exclusive scoops and breaking news.

Motivate Publishing has welcomed Eleanor Dickinson to the role of Reporter, working across Gulf Business and Campaign Middle East. This is Eleanor’s first role in Dubai, she previously worked in the UK as a Trainee News Reporter for The Cambridge News, covering everything from crime to politics to punting wars and royal visits. As a reporter for Gulf Business, Eleanor will be writing news and features on major developments in the business and technology industries in the Middle East. For Campaign Middle East she will be covering news within the advertising, PR and media industries as well as writing more in-depth pieces on the subjects.
“I am thrilled to be exploring these new journalistic challenges with Motivate in Dubai,” says Eleanor. “I’m really looking forward to reporting on many of the great stories the UAE has to offer.”
Phil Smith has joined Motivate Publishing as Group Sales Manager for its content marketing agency, Motivate Connect. With 15 years of experience in writing and selling country reports to various international business publications such as Time Magazine, Fortune Magazine and The Economist, Phil most recently worked on a short sponsored documentary for British Airways on Egypt.
As Group Sales Manager for Motivate Connect, Phil will be responsible for winning new business from clients looking for content across print, digital and social media channels. The role covers a range of media solutions including magazines, annual reports, show collateral, sporting programs and digital content.
“I am very excited to be joining Motivate Publishing and look forward to making a positive impact on the team’s performance,” says Phil. “Motivate Connect has delivered products in many different languages and as a linguist myself, speaking five languages, I hope to get involved in adding a further international dimension to the team.”
Aswathy Sathish has joined Motivate Publishing as Assistant Editor, Books Division. Having previously worked for Motivate’s Books Division as Editorial and Marketing Assistant between 2011 and 2013, Aswathy has just graduated from New York University with a Masters of Science in Publishing degree. In her new role, Aswathy will work with the Books Division’s Senior Editor, Poonam Ganglani, in researching, editing and writing copy for various books and other products published by Motivate.
“It feels good to be back on the books team,” says Aswathy. “It’s both familiar and new, and I am looking forward to the future.”
