Motivate promotes Nyree McFarlane

Motivate Publishing has promoted Nyree McFarlane to the role of Head of Digital Content. Previously Online Editor for What’s On Dubai’s digital platform, Nyree will now be responsible for the development and growth of all digital platforms for the publishing house, including whatson.ae, emirateswoman.com and gulfbusiness.com.

“I’m really excited to be able to help drive Motivate’s already excellent digital brands into the future, building agile, innovative, audience-loyal products that put story telling first,” says Nyree. “We already speak to a unique audience of a million people a month and I look forward to seeing the reach continue to build.”

Plan b welcomes Samer Alloush

Dubai-based marketing and events company, Plan b has appointed Samer Alloush to the role of Business Development Manager – Events. With over 11 years of experience in the media industry, Samer previously worked at ITP Media Group as Senior Sales Manager across titles Refining & Petrochemicals ME, Oil & Gas ME, Utilities ME as well as Oil & Gas Al Arabiya before joining APP Publishing, to work on OK! Middle East. In his most recent position as Senior Sales Manager at The Week, part of Motivate Publishing, he focused on selling advertising space along with events sponsorship.

At Plan B, he will work closely with the event management team and clients to increase market share and revenue within government and corporate organisations, as well as develop proposals, quotations and negotiate terms to secure sales opportunities.

“All I can say is that I am very excited and pleased to join Plan b,” says Samer. “It was a huge challenge for me to get into the events industry, but joining Plan b has been an amazing educational experience with a lot of diversity that will definitely add great value to my career.”

 

Emirates Woman welcomes new Deputy Editor

UAE-based glossy Emirates Woman, part of Motivate Publishing, has appointed Nina Catt to the role of Deputy Editor. With over ten years of experience in the media industry, Nina was previously based in Australia, where she worked across a number of magazines including, donna hay, that’s life! and InStyle Australia. In her new role, she will work across the Emirates Woman group portfolio including Emirates Woman, Emirates Bride and Emirates Woman Mini plus contract publishing titles Jumeirah and SOUK.

Emirates Woman welcomes Rachel Bassett

Falling under the umbrella of Motivate Publishing, women’s lifestyle and fashion title, Emirates Woman has appointed Rachel Bassett to the role of Stylist and Writer. Previously a Fashion Stylist and Writer at The Daily Express, London, Rachel will now oversee and contribute to all fashion and beauty features as well as photoshoots for the digital and print publication.

“I’m thrilled to join the fabulous Emirates Woman team in continuing to produce exceptional editorial for the region to enjoy,” says Rachel.

Louis Vuitton Middle East makes new appointment

Louis Vuitton Middle East has appointed Negar Ghodstinat to the role of Communications Director starting January 2017. With over 13 years of experience, Negar previously worked at MTV Networks International as Account Director and most recently at Motivate Publishing as Group Publisher for luxury and lifestyle working across several luxury titles including Emirates Woman and Jumeirah Magazine. In her new role she will oversee the PR, advertising, digital and corporate events division of the company.

good welcomes new Editor

 good magazine, part of Motivate Publishing, has welcomed Jennifer Gibson to the role of Editor. With 13 years of experience in print and broadcast journalism, in the UK as well as in Dubai, Jennifer has previously worked at VIVA and HELLO! Middle East. Most recently she worked as a freelance writer, contributing to titles such as Good TasteWhat’s On Dubai, Cyclist Middle East, The National and Gulf News, she has also worked in broadcasting for Dubai 92 and Dubai Eye. In her new role, Jennifer will be responsible for the monthly lifestyle magazine, handling all editorial content including; writing, commissioning and editing features as well as promoting the magazine via social media and radio.

“I’m delighted to be joining Motivate as Editor of good and am looking forward to working more with the fantastic team here,” says Jennifer. “I’ve lived in Dubai for nearly five years now and have watched the city grow and evolve dramatically during that time, so I’m very excited about getting out there and seeing what’s new, exciting and homegrown in our city.”

Jumeirah welcomes Acting Editor

Jumeirah magazine, part of Motivate Publishing, has welcomed Tahira Yaqoob to the role of Acting Editor. With over 20 years of experience in journalism across newspapers and magazines in the UK as well as the UAE, including The National and The Daily Mail, Tahira has recently been contributing to editorial content for Motivate’s Luxury and Lifestyle Group of publications. In her new role, she will take full editorial responsibility for the next two issues of Jumeirah, a monthly luxury title circulated to exclusive Jumeirah Group hotel rooms around the world.

Campaign ME welcomes new Editor

Campaign Middle East, a Motivate Publishing publication, has welcomed Austyn Allison to the role of Editor. A graduate in Philosophy and Sociology from the University of East Anglia, Austyn has over 13 years of experience in writing and editing. Most recently Supplements Editor for MEED at Emap Middle East, he has also worked for titles including Communicate and XPRESS. In his new role, Austyn will be working alongside the Campaign Middle East team to produce the fortnightly advertising, marketing and media publication, chasing news, as well as producing and editing content and features.

Helen Farmer to go freelance

Helen Farmer has left good magazine, part of Motivate Publishing, in order pursue freelance work on a full-time basis. Having worked as Editor for good since its conception in 2013, Helen moved to a part-time editorial role in March this year, where she was responsible for writing, commissioning and editing features for the magazine, as well as handling social media and marketing the title through online and radio platforms. Helen will now be freelancing on corporate and lifestyle copy editing and writing, as well as radio journalism. She will also continue to work on her recently rebranded parenting website, The Mothership – www.themothershipdxb.com.
“I’m really excited about the flexibility my new way of working will offer and the opportunity to pursue passion projects as well as explore different avenues and media platforms,” says Helen. “I’m also looking forward to developing The Mothership and helping other working mothers in Dubai, whether its through events or online.”

Motivate welcomes new Contributing Editor

Motivate Publishing has welcomed Stuart Todd to the role of Contributing Editor at Hype magazine. With over six years of experience in music journalism and PR, Stuart most recently worked as Editor at music website EQTV.CO.UK, where he sourced relevant and accurate content for the site in the form of artist interviews, event and track previews and reviews as well as features. As Contributing Editor to Hype, he will now be responsible for ensuring that all contributing writers return copy in a timely manner as well as checking that copy is factually correct and to brand specifications. Stuart will also undertake several key features per issue of the weekly music and nightlife magazine.
“Since moving to Dubai almost two years ago, joining the team at Hype has been a huge aspiration,” says Stuart. “I am very excited to be a part of the editorial team and look forward to what this season holds.”
