Abdul Karim to present Sport on 7

Abdul Karim will be producing and presenting Sport on 7 for City 7TV, in addition to covering sports news for the channel, as of January 11, 2016. The show was previously hosted by Graham Clews and Tom Bushell and broadcasts live from sporting events across Dubai on the second Sunday of every month. Abdul has been with City 7TV for over two years and has over three years of media experience in total. In his new role, he will cover international as well as community-based sporting events held in the UAE, offering insights into atmosphere and spectator opinions as well as results.

Eleanor Joslin to leave ITP Publishing

Eleanor Joslin will step down from her role as Editor at Harper’s Bazaar Interiors, part of ITP Publishing, in order to pursue freelance projects. With over five years of experience in journalism, Eleanor worked as Editor for the Better Homes portfolio at HOT Media Publishing before joining ITP.  She will now be working on providing a range of Editorial solutions and services, such as editing print and digital content, producing magazines and supplements and writing features.

 

1971 and –ING to host Contemporary Heritage

1971 Design Space and -ING creative community have teamed up to host a one day event under the title Contemporary Heritage on January 23, 2016 at the 1971 Design Space, The Flag Island, Sharjah. International and local creative leaders will gather to discuss what heritage is and what their views are on implementing it within their work through a program of talks, workshops and a creative panel. Speakers confirmed for the event include Australian Artist and Designer Gemma O’Brian who specialises in lettering, illustration and typography and Verena Michelitsch, an Austrian Graphic Designer and Illustrator.

 

Crème de la Creme Awards winners announced

The first ever Crème de la Crème magazine Luxury Awards have been held at Turtle Beach, Shangri-La Al Jissah Resort and Spa in Oman. Presented by Mercedes-Benz, the awards honoured luxury brands across nine different categories including Best Fashion Label Powered By Mercedes-Benz, Best Jewellery and Best Hotel. Nominees were evaluated by well-known names in the Sultanate and winners included Amouage and Patek Philippe.

Mindshare to hold Content Decoded Conference

Mindshare, part of global media agency network WPP, is set to hold a media conference under the theme of Content Decoded on January 19, 2016. The conference will be held in The Annex, Burj Khalifa Dubai, and will offer a lineup of experts from a range of different industries, who will teach participants how to utilise data for more creative content, as well as how to deliver content at a scale, amongst other topics.

Dubai Lynx launches 2016 content programme

The Dubai Lynx International Festival of Creativity has launched its 2016 content programme, aimed at bringing leading international experts together to discuss the future of creativity. The Inspiration Stage at the event will see global industry representatives share their expertise and discuss ideas, shifting the creating landscape. Kicking off this programme will be James Temple and Rick Williams of R/G London, who will discuss how they unlock breakthrough-innovation for clients in an ever-connected world. James Murphy, Co-Founder of adam&eveDDB, will also be discussing the secret to producing creatively impactful and internally moving campaigns. Other speakers will include Lars Bastholm, Global Chief Creative Officer, The ZOO – Google’s global creative think tank for brands and agencies – Mark Read, Global CEO, Wunderman and Peter Kim, Chief Digital Officer, Cheil Worldwide.
