ITP Media Group has appointed Danae Mercer to the role of Editor-in-Chief of Men’s Health Middle East and Women’s Health Middle East. Danae previously worked as a freelance journalist writing for CNN Travel, The Sunday Times, Afar, Shape magazine, Bloomberg Pursuits and others, and doing radio for the BBC World Service. Before freelancing, Danae was with Motivate Publishing as Editor of Jumeirah Magazine, where she oversaw publication production and worked closely with Jumeirah Group to shape the overall direction of its magazine. In her new role, she will oversee all editorial content of both titles and contribute to their brand development across the Middle East. She will also create cutting edge features to highlight the brand’s image and recognition across the region. Danae will be expanding WHME and MHME’s online brands as well.
Global communications agency, J. Walter Thompson has appointed Sasan Saeidi as the new CEO for the agency’s gulf operations. Having previously worked with FP7 as Managing Director, McCann group in Dubai since 2011, Sasan brings with him 18 years of experience in strategy, account management, business development and has led teams in North America as well as the MENA region across many sectors. In his new role Sasan will be leading the Dubai, Kuwait and Qatar teams on network projects, leading group pitches and driving the agency’s development agenda in the region as well as leveraging best practices and talent performance in the interests of clients and their brands.

Qatar-owned sports TV channel, BeIN Sports has resumed its regular showings after being inaccessible for over a month. The sports channel will now be made available across the UAE for Etisalat and du subscribers. The channel’s digital platform, beinsports.com has also been unblocked and will now be accessible to sports lovers across the country.
Rasasi, an oriental fragrance company, has appointed Grayling as its communications agency across GCC. Founded in 1979, Rasasi Perfumes is a family owned business offering a range of products under the oriental and occidental lines, including sprays, perfumes, cosmetics and toiletries. Grayling will be responsible for developing strategic and integrated public relations and social media programme for Rasasi.

UM MENA and FP7, the flagship agencies of MCN, has promoted Simon Bowthorpe to the role of Managing Director of UM Kuwait and FP7/KWI. Brand experience agency, Auditoire Qatar has signed with BPA Worldwide to audit the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) to be held from February 20 – 25, 2017 at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre. Qatar-based media company, Al Jazeera Media Network has signed an agreement with Huawei, a global leading ICT solutions provider to enhance its online presence across all media platforms. The partnership will see Huawei provide media cloud technology allowing both parties to explore and examine the best options and solutions to transform Al Jazeera’s online platform. The new media technology will also support video production and broadcast as well as focus on digitalising and archiving the network’s analog content online.
BNC Publishing’s new monthly title, Design Middle East has appointed Lauren Steadman to the role of Editor. With over 5 years of experience in journalism in the region, Lauren was previously Editor at Guardian Media Group, UK, before she moved to the Middle East to work with Switch Global in Qatar and UAE as well as ITP Publishing Group in Dubai. In her new role, Lauren will oversee and contribute to all editorial content for the design title.
