Mohammed Rayes joins Arab News

Saudi Arabian daily newspaper Arab News has appointed Mohammed Rayes to the role of Resident Cartoonist. Rayes previously worked with Asharq Al-Awsat, London and more recently Okaz, Saudi Arabia. In his new role, he will be responsible for the all cartoon publication for Arab News on all its print and online media platforms.

“We are extremely pleased to have Mohammed Rayes join us,” says Faisal J. Abbas, Editor-in-Chief, Arab News. “His cartoons truly have the ability to go beyond borders and I’m the creativity of this truly-talented and self-taught Saudi artist will be appreciated by readers of both our print and online editions.”

beIN reaches agreement with Warner Bros.

Qatar-based media network beIN Media Group, part of Al Jazeera, has signed an agreement with Warner Bros. The agreement which will go into effect in 2019, will see movies and TV series from the international television studio’s aired through beIN’s pay-TV platform across the Middle East and North Africa.

VIVA magazine launches new website

VIVA magazine, part of ITP Publishing Group, has launched vivabeauty.me. Providing readers with daily beauty news, the website features industry updates including make-up tips and tricks, behind the scenes sneak peeks, expert tutorials and the latest beauty items of the season.

“The recently launched website is an extension of the much loved VIVA brand and is just another way to offer readers more of what they love in an instant,” says Anita Quade, Editor, VIVA magazine.

Times of Oman wins at World Digital Awards

Times of Oman has been awarded Best Data Visualisation for its creative site at this year’s World Digital Awards in Vienna, Austria. The awards were presented by the World Association of Newspapers (Wan-Ifra) to recognise Times of Oman’s site for its features, which includes; drawings, graphics and videos that details the heritage behind the Omani dress for a digital celebration in honour of the country’s 45th National Day.

“I’m thrilled for the team behind this special project and even more so that a project that honours Oman’s heritage has won recognition at a global level, particularly as we approach National Day this year,” says Scott Armstrong, Chief Executive Editor, Times of Oman. “This came on the back of five awards, two gold, including one for the Omani dress project and three silver in the 2016 Middle East Digital Awards of the World Association of Newspapers.”

Hello! Middle East secures Hillary Clinton exclusive

Hello! Middle East has secured an exclusive interview with US Presidential Candidate, Hillary Clinton. The seven-page regional exclusive interview will be available across the Middle East from Thursday 13, 2016. It features Hillary speaking about her family, life challenges and reasons why she believes she is ready to be the next US President along with rare pictures of former President Bill Clinton and their grandchildren.

Facebook launches Workplace

Facebook has announced the launch of its new business-connecting tool Workplace, to help organisations and employees collaborate across the MENA region. Workplace will serve as a communications platform that will include familiar Facebook features such as; news feed, groups and messages, as well as dashboards with analytics and integrations, which is a new Workplace-only feature.

Boxing News Middle East launches

The Middle East’s first and only dedicated boxing news portal has launched under the title Boxing News Middle East (www.boxingnewsme.com). The Dubai-based platform has been created to highlight local and regional boxing talent, events and news through insights, features, analysis and hard-hitting opinion pieces that cover issues on the sport in the region.

The online platform has the facility for boxers to upload their fighter profile as well as submit alerts to the news team to highlight any upcoming fights.
