New Managing Editor at Entrepreneur ME

Entrepreneur Middle East has appointed Tamara Pupic to the role of Managing Editor. Previously Editor of Arabian Business StartUp, part of ITP Media Group, Tamara reported on the developments across the MENA startup and SME industry. Prior to starting her career in journalism in 2012, she worked in the international trade policy development field with more focus on the World Trade Organisation law. She is also the founding President of Club Alpbach Belgrade, part of the European Forum Alpbach, a Vienna-based organisation fostering interdisciplinary dialog in education, business and politics. In the UAE, Tamara has also helped establish United World College, UAE National Committee, the regional branch of the London-headquartered organisation of 17 international colleges. In her new role, she will join the editorial team and work with the Editor-in-Chief, Aby Sam Thomas on Entrepreneur Middle East’s editorial content across its digital and print channels.

KBW Investments welcomes Fida Chaaban

Fida Chaaban has joined KBW Investments as the Group’s Chief Communications Officer. Formerly the Founding Editor-In-Chief of Entrepreneur Middle East, where she worked for over two and a half years, Fida will now work with KBW Investments to oversee all of its marketing communications and digital platforms. She will also be liaising with media and stakeholders on behalf of the Dubai-based portfolio group which was founded in 2013 by HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal.

“I’m really looking forward to my new role with KBW Investments as the Group’s Chief Communications Officer,” says Fida. “My appointment comes as the Group rapidly expands its operations and makes strategic advancements in the MENA region and beyond. I’m hoping to help communicate and articulate the company’s vision as it navigates this exciting new phase of its business. In addition, KBW’s Chairman, HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal has a keen interest in startups both in the Middle East and further afield, hence this new role will allow me to continue to remain closely involved with the entrepreneurial ecosystem, which was a key factor in my decision to join the company.”

Entrepreneur Middle East welcomes new Editor-in-Chief

Aby Sam Thomas has been appointed as Editor-in-Chief at Entrepreneur Middle East, part of BNC Publishing. Previously Managing Editor for the publication, Aby will now be responsible for both Entrepreneuer ME and Entrepreneur Qatar. As Editor-in-Chief, he will oversee all of the content for both titles including online and offline, as well as strategy and brand development across the MENA region.

New CEO at BNC Publishing

BNC Publishing has appointed Wissam Younane to the role of Chief Executive Officer. Previously Director for Entrepreneur Middle East, Entrepreneur Qatar and Entrepreneur AlArabiya where he was responsible for the publications’s brand presence across the Middle East, Wissam will now be overseeing BNC Publishing’s international expansion efforts together with the company’s partners.

“As the new CEO of BNC Publishing, I will be overseeing international expansion efforts, together with my partners,” says Wissam. “My focus on Entrepreneur’s brand presence in the Middle East will continue, but will now also involve additional verticals.”

Entrepreneur ME hosts Achieving Women’s Forum

Entrepreneur Middle East has hosted its first Achieving Women’s Forum, an industry intel event. Held at the Ritz Carlton Dubai, and supported by entities including the Dubai Chamber, Intercoil and Paris Gallery, the event saw a series of talks on the methodology of business. Panelists included businesswoman and TV presenter Rosemin Manji, President of Virgin Megastores MENA Nisreen Shocair, and CEO and founder of Souqalmal.com Ambareen Musa, amongst others. The event began with a keynote address by Noor Sweid, Partner at Leap Ventures, and concluded with a networking lunch.

Aby Thomas joins BNC Publishing

Aby Thomas has joined BNC Publishing as Managing Editor of Entrepreneur Middle East. Aby joins the team from ITP Publishing, where he was previously Editor of Facilities Management Middle East, and prior to this was a freelance journalist based in New York. As the new Managing Editor, Aby will liaise with the publication’s Editor-in-Chief, Fida Chabaan, to develop business-relevant content which engages readers across print, web and social mediums. He will also directly manage the in-house columnists, and facilitate the BNC Publishing team’s professional development, as part of its staff retention and growth strategy.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Fida and her team at Entrepreneur Middle East,” says Aby. “I’ve been following its work over the past few months and I’ve been very impressed by what they’ve achieved, so I’m quite excited to have my name attached to the publication!”

Wissam Younane joins BNC Publishing

Wissam Younane has joined the BNC Publishing team as Managing Partner. Previous Sales Director for ITP Publishing, Wissam will now act as Director for Entrepreneur Middle EastEntrepreneur Qatar and Entrepreneur AlArabiya and and will be corporately and commercially responsible for other company interests.

“Entrepreneurship in the Middle East has long been an interest of mine,” says Wissam. “My newest position as the Managing Partner of BNC Publishing acts as a vehicle to put my ambitions to work while simultaneously supporting the MENA business community through our various channels, both print and digital.”
