EW secures royal exclusive

Emirates Woman magazine has secured an exclusive with Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein. The interview features HRH Princess Haya speaking about the admiration she has for her husband, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, her children and her late mother, as well as her views on social media today.

“Ahead of her time yet utterly in tune with ours, HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein is one of the world’s greatest humanitarians and I was both honoured and humbled to interview this hugely inspirational woman,” says Lyndsey Steven, Associate Editor, Emirates Woman Group. “HRH Princess Haya is not only a brilliant role model for working women in the UAE, she has also made great strides in changing the world’s perception of women in the Middle East.”

Winners announced for EW Woman of the Year Awards

The Emirates Woman Woman of the Year Awards 2016 winners were announced at the 12th annual awards event held at the Palazzo Versace last night. The ceremony also marked the 35th year anniversary of the magazine was attended by over 400 guests to recognise women living and working in the UAE who have made their mark in the art, business, philanthropy and entertainment sectors. With over 26 nominees, notable winners include Founder of The Human Spirit Project, Dana Djani who won the Artist category, adventurer, Raha Moharrak who won the Achiever Award, YouTuber and boutique owner, Hayla Ghazal who won the Young Talent category, Founder of Emirates Autism Centre, Amal Galal Sabry who won the Humanitarian award and CEO of Dubai Women Establishment, Shamsa Saleh who won the Visionary award.

Olivia Phillips joins Grazia Middle East

Fashion and lifestyle magazines Grazia Middle East, Grazia Qatar and Grazia Luxury, part of the ITP Publishing group, welcome Olivia Phillips to the role of Deputy Editor. With 10 years of experience, Olivia most recently worked as Fashion Features Editor for Emirates Woman, where she was responsible for fashion and beauty features. Previously she held positions at Stylist UK and Net-a-Porter.com and has written for You magazine, Refinery29.com and MatchesFashion.com.

Motivate welcomes new Picture Editor

Motivate Publishing has welcomed Diana Bell-Heather to the role of Picture Editor for the Luxury and Lifestyle group. A journalism graduate from Kingston University, Diana also has a Master’s degree in TV Journalism from Goldsmiths, University of London. She has five years of experience working for media houses in the UK in image research and procurement and also founded personal style blog sweatshirtsanddresses.com, which she edits. As Picture Editor for the Luxury and Lifestyle group, Diana will be working across Motivate’s Emirates Woman titles, managing the picture desk and assisting with content production.

Motivate welcomes Ronda Mustapha

Ronda Mustapha has joined Motivate Publishing as Senior Sales Manager for Emirates Woman. Previously Advertising Sales Manager at ITP Publishing, Ronda has over 10 years of experience in sales, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Balamand, Lebanon. In her new role, she will be responsible for identifying commercial opportunities and maximising revenue generation for the Emirates Woman brand.

Motivate Publishing appoints new Associate Editor

Lyndsey Steven has been promoted to Associate Editor of the Emirates Woman Group, part of Motivate Publishing. Having joined the company a year ago, Lyndsey most recently held the position of Deputy Editor at Emirates Woman and will now utilise her 16 years of experience in the publishing and broadcasting sector in her new expanded role. Lyndsey has previously contributed to a spectrum of publications in the UAE including La Femme, The Rake, Indulge and The National, and will now be writing, editing and overseeing content for Emirates Woman, Emirates Woman Bride, Emirates Woman Mini and Harvey Nichols – Dubai magazines.

“My year at Motivate has flown by and I am looking forward to many more,” says Lyndsey. “I’ve always been a huge fan of Emirates Woman and it’s been wonderful working with such an accomplished and dedicated team.”

Sarah Garden joins ShortList UAE

ShortList UAE has welcomed Sarah Garden as Digital Editor. Sarah will bring with her extensive editorial experience, both online and in print, as well a first-class honours degree in Journalism from Napier University in the UK. Prior to moving to ShortList, she worked at Motivate Publishing as a Features Editor for magazines including Emirates Woman, Emirates Bride and Harvey Nichols.

In her new role, Sarah will be editing ShortList’s soon-to-be-launched UAE websites, shortlistdubai.com and shortlistabudhabi.comShortList UAE will be published by Arab Publishing Partners and will differ from its UK counterpart as it will be aimed at both men and women, covering a variety of subjects including new restaurants and bars, events and attractions, and shopping and style.

Viva welcomes new Fashion and Beauty Editor

Alexandra Venison will join Viva magazine as Fashion and Beauty Editor, following her previous role as Junior Fashion Editor at Emirates Woman.

Alexandra graduated from London College of Fashion with a first-class Honours degree in broadcast journalism. In her new role, she will be utilising her previous experience gained over the past few years at Motivate Publishing as she oversees all fashion and beauty pages for Viva.

Alexandra Bull steps down at Motivate Publishing

Alexandra Bull is moving on from her position as Picture Editor for Emirates Woman Group. A part of the team since 2013, Alexandra has managed the picture desk across various titles including Emirates Woman, Emirates Bride and Emirates Woman Mini, as well as producing content for emirateswoman.com. She now returns to Cape Town in South Africa, where she will work in custom publishing in an expanded role as Picture Editor and Designer working across print and digital.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure to work here at Motivate,” says Alexandra. “It’s a company which carries so much clout in the industry but still feels like a big family – one that I am definitely going to miss.”

Samantha Hamilton-Rushforth steps down at EW

Emirates Woman’s Beauty Editor Samantha Hamilton-Rushforth today steps down from her position at Motivate Publishing. Having spent three and a half years at the publishing house – the past year and a half overseeing the Beauty pages of Emirates Woman and the previous two years as the Fashion and Beauty Editor at Hello! Magazine – Samantha leaves to launch her own beauty and technology-based business in the early part of 2015.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my experiences both at Emirates Woman and Hello! Magazine, and am truly grateful to have worked with some amazing colleagues along the way,” says Samantha. “I’m sad to be leaving but excited about becoming an entrepreneur and chasing my new dream.”
