Chalk Media Group relaunches L’Officiel in Middle East

Jalou Media Group is excited to announce the international digital launch of lofficielarabia.com in October 2018, and the relaunch of the print edition, L’Officiel Arabia, in spring 2019.

One of the leading French luxury fashion titles for over 100 years, the L’Officiel brand is owned by Jalou Media Group, a family-owned business based in Paris and led by CEO, Benjamin Eymere. The relaunched Middle Eastern incarnation of the title will be published by Dubai-based agency, Chalk Media, headed by Managing Director, Sidharth Saigal.

A combined English & Arabic title, with 10 issues per year, L’Officiel Arabia will be distributed throughout the Middle East on an initial print run of 37,000 copies, and comprises an editorial mix of locally-produced and international content from more than 30 international L’Officiel editions.

With the debut of the digital platform in both Arabic and English, lofficielarabia.com is a fully-integrated digital newsroom offering consumers both local and international coverage of high fashion, beauty, accessories, art, travel and lifestyle, and joins the L’Officiel digital network, reaching millions of consumers across the globe.

Published in partnership with Chalk Media, the L’Officiel Arabia team will be led by Editor-in-Chief,Boba Stanic, who boasts a 15-year career in arts, culture and fashion in the Netherlands and the UAE. A highly regarded architect, with a successful design business in Amsterdam, Boba  has collaborated with a variety of international designers, studios and museums throughout his multi-faceted career, and frequently speaks on a variety of art and culture seminars and workshops across the globe.

Joining him is Lucy Wildman, who will take on the role of L’Officiel Arabia’s Deputy Editor and Fashion Director. With a 20-year journalistic career in both the UK and the UAE, Lucy brings a wealth of experience in fashion, beauty, lifestyle and celebrity journalism to the title, having previously worked on some of the biggest weekly and monthly publications in the region, including Ahlan!, Architectural Digest, Conde Nast Traveller, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, Hello! Middle East, OK! Middle East, The Rake, Revolution and Scene.

CitizenK appoints Editor-in-Chief

GN Publishing has welcomed Esther Quek to the role of Editor-in-Chief for new, luxury fashion titles CitizenK Arabia and CitizenK Homme. With over ten years of media experience across the UAE, Asia and Australia, Esther will be leaving her role as Group Fashion Director at APP Gulf – where she has worked on The RakeRevolutionConde Nast TravellerStylist Arabia and the Hello! Group – to join GN Publishing. In her new role, she will be overseeing both print publications which are due to be launched later this month.

Conde Nast Traveller ME revealed at launch party

The first issue of Condé Nast Traveller Middle East was revealed at the magazine’s launch event, held at the Conrad Dubai last night. The event was attended by over 500 VIPs, including CEOs, Managing Directors, and heads from leading travel, tourism and public sector organisations in the Middle East. The winners of the inaugural Condé Nast Traveller Middle East Readers’ Choice Awards were also revealed and awarded at the event.

“The Middle East edition of Condé Nast Traveller is the eighth in the world, and will stand out as being uniquely curated to speak to this audience,” says Rhea Saran, Editor in Chief of Condé Nast Traveller Middle East. “The launch cover works as a sneak peek of what to expect: Condé Nast Traveller Middle East will be luxurious, glamorous and fashion forward while still being the ultimate authority on travel lifestyle.”

Arab Publishing Partners (APP), part of the ITP Group, the Gulf region’s largest consumer and business magazine publisher, and Condé Nast International, launched the international luxury travel title Condé Nast Traveller Middle East. The magazine is APP’s first publication under licence agreement with Condé Nast International.

Winners of the Condé Nast Traveller Middle East Reader’s Choice Awards were also announced at the launch event on December 4, 2013. The best brands and personalities from Middle East and International travel were awarded in 14 readers’ choice categories, including Best City, Best Country, Best Airline (leisure and business), Best Hotel (leisure and business), Best Spa, amongst others. The readers’ choice awards were voted for online by audiences from the Middle East and the results were audited by BPA Worldwide. Emirates Airlines won both the award categories for Best Airline – Business and Best Airline – Leisure, while the Burj Khalifa was voted as the Best Tourist Attraction in the Middle East. Dubai won the Best City – Middle East award while the French capital, Paris, was voted as the Best City – International by travellers from the Middle East. Dusit Thani, Maldives was voted as the Best Hotel – International, and Atlantis The Palm, Dubai won the award for the Best Hotel in the Middle East.

Congratulating the winners, Rhea Saran said, “For over 25 years, the Readers’ Choice Awards have been setting the standard for the tourism and hospitality industries around the world, and tonight we added important votes from the Middle East into the mix. Elle Timms lands role at Conde Nast Traveller

Elle Timms, former Editor of Hello! Middle East, has announced she is to manage the fashion and beauty content for the Condé Nast Traveller Middle East launch issue. Starting with immediate effect, Elle will manage the ‘Travel & Style’ section, which is made up of both fashion and beauty content.

“I am thrilled to be looking after the fashion and beauty content for Condé Nast Traveller Middle East,” says Elle. “This is my first major freelance project and it feels good to be back in the world of style-driven stories. I’m very much looking forward to the launch.”

Condé Nast Traveller – Editorial team announced

Today marks the start of the Condé Nast Traveller editorial team formation, with three key team members announced. Effective immediately, Rhea Saran will take the lead as Editor-in-Chief, with Grazia Middle East Deputy Editor, Jenny King, moving across to join the team as Deputy Editor at the end of September. Sabina Parkinson joins as Art Director, with more team to be announced imminently. Part of the ITP group, this will be APP’s first publication under licence agreement with Condé Nast International and marks the luxury travel title’s debut in the Gulf region.
