CNBC to launch Middle East Headquarters

CNBC is set to launch new headquarters for the Middle East in Abu Dhabi in Q1 2018. The global business and financial news network will begin broadcasting from the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) studios and will see ten new appointments to build a new team ahead of its launch. The new headquarters will anchor its daily global business news programs while the network also establishes an on-the-ground editorial presence locally as well as across the region.

Sam Kiley joins CNN

CNN Abu Dhabi has welcomed Sam Kiley to the role of Senior International Correspondent. Sam previously worked with BBC, FRONTLINE – part of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and most recently Sky News. In his new role, he will join the international news team and report to the news desk with breaking news from across the region.

CNN is the world’s most watched news network with an unmatched presence on every major global story,” says Sam. “I have grown up as a journalist alongside CNN teams from Somalia to Sarajevo and Mosul. I have always admired them and am proud to be joining my friends at the network at this exciting and unpredictable, time.”

Sarah Garden joins Harper’s Bazaar Arabia

Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, part of ITP Media Group has appointed Sarah Garden to the role of Digital Editor. Having joined ITP Media Group in 2015, Sarah most recently worked with ShortList Dubai and ShortList Abu Dhabi. In her new role, she will be responsible for harpersbazaararabia.com and the associated social media channels, overseeing the brand’s editorial and video content.

Dubaiweek.ae welcomes Miles Buckeridge

Dubaiweek.ae, part of Turrent Media has appointed Miles Buckeridge to the role of Features Editor. Currently studying at the National Council for Training of Journalists (NCTJ) for a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism, Miles most recently worked as a Junior Writer at Conde Nast Traveller Middle East, part of ITP Media Group. In his new role, he will report on Dubai happenings and generate engaging video content.

Motivate appoints new Features Editor

Motivate Publishing has appointed Greg Synnott to the role of Features Editor for What’s On Magazine. With over seven years of editorial experience, Greg has worked freelance with several publications as well as launched his independent music website in Ireland, 7billionpeople.net and most recently worked at Fairfax Media, New Zealand, as Social Media Producer for Stuff.co.nz. In his new role, Greg will curate content and relevant monthly features for several sections under the title.

“I’m excited to go back to print media and work with people who are excited about all things Dubai,” says Greg. “As a newbie to the city, I think it will be interesting to explore with fresh eyes, as well as bring my own views to such an established magazine.”

BrandMoxie and CreatorUp! to launch digital training course

Abu Dhabi-based advertising agency, BrandMoxie has partnered with digital media training company, CreatorUp! to offer digital training course for media professionals in the UAE. The new partnership will see CreatorUp! offer a six-week course called ‘Become a Digital Creator’ in Abu Dhabi starting mid-September 2017. The course will include weekly assignments and assessments and is specifically aimed at journalists, content aggregators, and influencers. Registration for the course is priced at AED4,000 for single enrollment, AED3,000 if there are three or more individuals from a company and 15% discount for referrals from another institution.
