Newgate Communications launches in AD

Newgate Communications has opened its seventh overseas branch in 2013, with the launch of Newgate Abu Dhabi. The introduction of a branch in this region follows office openings in Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane.

The office is located within the Abu Dhabi Media Zone Authority and will be headed by Habib Bacha, who will liaise closely with Byron Ousey, Partner in the Newgate, London office. Habib has extensive consultancy experience in the region and has collaborated with Byron previously at Gavin Anderson.

“The UAE and the wider Middle East region is the land of opportunities,” says Habib. “Financial communication is a must, especially after the expansion of the regional banks and finance houses around the world. Newgate is an expert in financial communications with an experienced team who understand the local culture and the industry.”

Newgate Abu Dhabi has already won its first client with the launch of Eurisbank, an Islamic financial services group.

 

New platform set to transform taxi advertising

Taxi Media Middle East is to soft launch its new state-of-the-art touchscreen technology for taxi advertising in late November. The advertising platform is set to transform taxi advertising effectiveness through the means of time based, location based and real-time updates allowing advertisers full control of their content.

Taxi Media Middle East has the exclusive rights to the Middle East for the world’s largest taxi media platform. Currently operating in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Canada, with further expansion to Australia, South Korea, Vietnam, France and Germany planned in 2014, the units are heavily patented and have won many awards for their advances in technology.

The soft launch will roll out across 7,146 taxis in the Abu Dhabi Emirate involving Emirates Taxis, Cars Taxis, Arabia Taxis, National Taxis, Tawasul and Al Ghazal Taxis. The official launch is set for January 2014, with expansion into other Emirates and countries within the region planned later in 2014.

New Content Director to join Seven Media

Anthony Richardson has been confirmed as the new Content Director at Seven Media. The former Assistant News Editor for The National and most recently Bureau Chief at Bloomberg in Hong Kong, will commence his new role on November 3, 2013.

In addition to editing all English language output from the agency including press releases, collaterals and social media plans, Anthony will also oversee the corporate brochures division and the multimedia team. Anthony will work closely with Janty Nakhesh who heads up the Arabic team to ensure all content produced is of an exceptional standard.

New MD for Bell Pottinger Abu Dhabi

Bell Pottinger has appointed Archie Berens as Managing Director of its new Abu Dhabi office. With nearly 20 years experience in financial and corporate communications, and having previously qualified as a lawyer, Berens was chosen as the ideal candidate to head up the Abu Dhabi office.

Berens’ appointment follows the arrival in the UAE of fellow Bell Pottinger director Tristan Peniston-Bird, who took charge of the firm’s office in Dubai in January.

“It is very good news for us to be able to have someone as experienced as Archie living and working full time in Abu Dhabi,” says Lord Bell, Chairman of Bell Pottinger. “His appointment demonstrates our wholehearted commitment both to the Emirate and to the UAE as a whole. What’s On to launch online

Motivate Publishing is expanding its online presence with the What’s On website set to go live in the final quarter of 2013. Billing itself as the go-to guide for expert opinion, insider info, news, reviews, entertainment, competitions and more, the online platform will attract everyone from foodies to thrill-seekers and fashionistas.

“The job of launching the What’s On website gets ever more exciting from day-to-day,” says new What’s On Online Editor, Matthew Fortune who joined the team in August. “The challenge of developing unique content to perfectly partner the magazine is one that I, and those I meet, have seized with both hands.”

“It promises to be a thrilling few months,” Matthew adds.

What’s On Awards 2013 – nominations now open

Voting is now open for the What’s On Awards 2013, in association with Dubai First. Now in its twelfth year, the awards celebrate the UAE’s crème de la crème of hospitality, entertainment and leisure, with two lavish award ceremonies. The What’s On Abu Dhabi Awards is set to take place at the Ritz-Carlton, Abu Dhabi on October 22. This is followed closely by the What’s On Dubai Awards, which has retained its prime location at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre on November 27,  2013.
