Olivia Phillips joins Emirates Woman Group

Olivia Phillips has joined Emirates Woman Group as Fashion Features Editor. Olivia joins the team at Motivate Publishing from the UK, where she was Senior Fashion Assistant for Stylist magazine. In her new position, Olivia will edit all beauty and fashion pages across the Emirates Woman Group, as well as writing fashion features and news, developing feature ideas, conducting designer interviews, compiling shopping pages and contributing to the website.

“I am thrilled to be on board at Emirates Woman and really look forward to investing in the magazine and website, pushing them forward and creating some really unique content,” says Olivia. “I’ve joined a fantastic team and am incredibly excited to see what the future will bring for us!”

Dimitra Ampela joins Downtown Design

Dimitra Ampela has been appointed as the Marketing Manager for Downtown Design in Dubai. In her previous position, Dimitra was Communications and Media Manager for Reed Exhibitions Middle East, where she managed communications for the International Water Summit, the World Future Energy Summit and the Airport Show. As Marketing Manager, Dimitra will handle communications and marketing initiatives such as social media, PR and media relations.

Daisy Omissi joins Qatar Airways

Daisy Omissi has been appointed as Manager of Onboard Reading Materials for Qatar Airways. Daisy joins the team in Doha from Spain, where she was most recently Marketing Director at Landcorp International and acted as the European marketing agent for large developmental projects in Canada, Argentina and Brazil. Daisy also spent many years in the UAE both in an editorial capacity and in PR. In her new position, Daisy will oversee the publication of Oryx and Oryx Premium, in addition to overseeing other communications and press releases distributed by the company.

Luca Allam promoted at PHD

PHD, the media agency network part of Omnicom Media Group, has promoted its Group Director and Head of Digital, Luca Allam, to the position of General Manager of its Dubai office. Luca was instrumental in establishing PHD’s digital agenda, and as Group Director, he managed the integration of digital with offline media thinking and driving the agency’s digital product forward for clients. In his new role, Luca will oversee all accounts and lead on the Unilever digital business.

Eddie Taylor joins Esquire Weekend

Eddie Taylor has joined ITP Publishing as Editor of Esquire Weekend in Dubai. He joins the team from NPI where he was Special Projects Editor, managing the company’s portfolio of B2B titles predominantly in the hospitality and travel sector, as well as helping to shape the company’s digital and social media strategy. In his new role, Eddie will oversee editorial for the weekly magazine.

Tarek Solimane joins Alstom

Alstom, the French multinational corporation which holds interests in electricity generation and rail transport markets, has appointed Tarek Solimane as NME Regional Communication Director. Previously Head of Communications for the press office and regional development at UBIFRANCE Agency in Dubai, Tarek’s focus was on the design and implementation of integrated communication strategies for French companies seeking development in the MENA region, and successfully launched the first UBIFRANCE Coporate Communications and press office in the GCC in 2008. In his new role, Tarek’s key responsibilities include developing Alstom’s image in the region and supporting the various businesses with their communications, including press relations.

Chanelle Tourish joins Time Out Dubai

Chanelle Tourish has been appointed as the Nightlife, Arts & Culture Editor for Time Out Dubai. Chanelle joins the team at ITP from Virtuozity magazine, where she held the position of Associate Editor for the last year and a half. In addition to this, Chanelle brings a range of experience to her new role having worked across print media in the UAE, UK and Ireland.

Gemma Jones to step down at Gulf News Magazines

Gemma Jones is to step down as Fashion Stylist for Gulf News Magazines at the beginning of next month. The resident Fashion Stylist for two and a half years, Gemma’s role includes shooting across three titles – Alpha, Aquarius and Friday magazine, shooting everything from women’s, men’s and children’s fashion to still life and writing fashion columns. With plans to remain in Dubai on a freelance basis, Gemma has projects already in place with luxury clients to extend her editorial and commercial portfolio, and can be found at www.gemmamjones.com.

“It has been a difficult decision to make as I have had a great time working at Gulf New Magazines, but ultimately I need to move on to more career-driven projects,” says Gemma. “Having been part of the redesign on both monthly titles – Alpha and Aquarius – I will of course miss the teams and shooting for them greatly.”

Olivia Cantillon joins Hello! Middle East

Olivia Cantillon has joined the Hello! Middle East team as Writer & Stylist. Starting this week, Olivia takes on her new position from the UK, where she was previously Deputy Fashion Editor for Star magazine. In her new role, Olivia will be working across the title on fashion and beauty, interviews and celebrity stories.

Patrick Fourniol joins Al-Futtaim Motors

Patrick Fourniol has been appointed as Head of Marketing for Toyota at Al-Futtaim Motors. Patrick joins the team from Renault Germany, where he was Marketing Director for Renault since 2011, and prior to this held the position of VP Marketing Communications Worldwide. He brings extensive industry experience to his new role and the Toyota brand, having served four years at Toyota Marketing Europe as Regional Senior Manager Toyota Sales Operations until 2007.
