Stylist Arabia to go monthly

Stylist Arabia, part of APP Media Group, is set to become a monthly glossy title as of August 1, 2016. Previously a weekly publication, the magazine will continue to be aimed at a target audience of intelligent, sophisticated and style-conscious readers, by maintaining a focus on inspirational female figures, culture, careers, food and travel. Kerry McDermott will remain Editor and Stylist Arabia will be available, for free, at the beginning of every month from five star hotels, airline business class lounges, spas, salons and universities.

Submissions open for 2016 MEPRA Awards

Submissions are now open for the 2016 Middle East PR Association (MEPRA) Awards. Aimed at bringing together elite practitioners, household names and emerging forces in the Middle East PR industry, the awards hope to reward the agencies and individuals who set benchmarks for PR practices. Submissions are now open via the MEPRA website, with the deadline for entry being October 13, 2016 and winners will be announced during the 2016 MEPRA Awards Gala, which will take place on November 23, 2016 at the JW Marriot Marquis hotel in Dubai.

Voting for Condé Nast Traveller awards opens

Voting has opened for the annual Condé Nast Traveller Middle East Readers’ Choice Awards, hosted by Condé Nast Traveller Middle East, an Arab Publishing Partners (APP) publication. This year, the awards look to determine the future of luxury travel, with 20 categories including; Favourite Fashion-forward Destination, Favourite Secret Beach Destination and Favourite Tech-savvy Hotel. Readers of Condé Nast Traveller Middle East can vote for winners through the publication’s website, www.condenasttraveller.ae, and results will be announced during a red-carpet gala in November.

Media community unite to help friend in need

The UAE’s media community is uniting to help Jeff Price, who has been diagnosed with a rare brain condition that his medical insurance won’t cover. Dubai Opera and ARN form partnership

 Dubai Opera and the Arabian Radio Network (ARN) have formed a strategic partnership with the aim of developing a community of performing arts fans in the UAE. The multi-year agreement will see the development of new programming on talk radio station Dubai Eye 103.8, which will become the official radio channel for Dubai Opera, playing host to  interviews with talent visiting the new venue, located in Dubai’s Opera District.

Distripress Congress to be held in Dubai

This year’s edition of the Distripress Congress is set to be held in Dubai on Monday, 3 October until Thursday, 6 October, 2016 at Dubai World Trade Centre. This will be the first time the congress is to be held in the Middle East and the event will act as an international meeting point for everyone involved in the distribution and marketing of newspapers and periodicals. CNN named number one international news channel

CNN International is the number one international news channel in daily, weekly and monthly reach, according to the Ipsos Affluent Survey Middle East. The independent industry research study shows that the CNN International TV channel reaches 20% of the Middle East’s elite population every month and this reach increases to 28% when CNN International‘s digital properties are added to the scale of linear TV.

Gulf News closes Radio One & Radio Two

Gulf News Broadcasting has announced that it will no longer be managing stations Radio One & Radio Two. Established over ten years ago, the radio stations have closed “as a result of unforeseen circumstances, which are beyond the control of Gulf News Broadcasting LLC”.

The broadcasting company has thanked its employees, advertising partners and supporters, as well as contributors for their efforts and commitment.

Vice and Moby partner in the Middle East

Youth media and content creation studio, VICE Media has partnered with media and communications group, MOBY Group to launch VICE’s digital and mobile programming in the MENA region. The partnership will give the company access to MOBY’s knowledge in the local markets and will bring with it the opening of local production studios across the region, the hiring of journalists and filmmakers as well as the airing of tailored local news and lifestyle programming.

Y&R Amman selected for 2016 Act Responsible Exhibition

Jordanian-based communications group Y&R Amman has been selected for the 2016 Act Responsibly Exhibition during Cannes Lions for its work “Smokey Sperms” for the Tobacco Free Jordan campaign. Established in 1995, the agency is a member of MENACOM Group Jordan and it has worked to address the relation between smoking and fertility issues prevalent in the male population in Jordan. The Act Responsible Exhibition showcases the best campaigns for good causes, charities, institutions, foundations, corporations or brands as a round up of the work created around the world between 2015 and 2016.
