Arab Woman Awards UAE 2016 judges announced

The Arab Woman Awards UAE has announced the panel of judges for its 2016 edition. Launched by ITP Publishing group in 2009, the Arab Woman Awards recognises Arab women’s achievements in their different fields and aims to provide young women with inspirational role models.

This year’s judges board members will be chaired by HE Ameera bin Karam, Chairperson of the Sharjah Businesswomen Council. Other members of the 2016 judging panel will include; Sheikha Nawar Al Qassimi, Sharjah Art Foundation; Dr Nawal Al-Hosany, Masdar’s Director of Sustainability; HE Reem Alshemari, Director of Strategic Communications Affairs at the Executive Affairs Authority (EAA); Noor Sweid, Partner at Leap Ventures; Nadine Y. Maalouf, Owner of the SME Advisory Group; Dr Mona Hammami, Director at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court; Gina Tadros, Editor-in-Chief of Hello! Arabia; Abu Dhabi based businesswoman, Asma Al Fahim; TV presenter, Zeina Al Yaziji; and Dubai based designer Aljoud Lootah.

“We have selected this year’s board of judges due to them all being inspiring women who are experts in their own fields,” says Sue Holt, Awards Founder, Executive Director, ITP Publishing Group and APP Media Group. “Being the UAE awards we also try to have all of the Emirates represented. Many of the board members have themselves been previous winners and said what a positive experience it was for them. This year we have had over 300 nominations so they now have the very difficult task of selecting the most deserving. I wish them luck and look forward to seeing their final choices.”

Masala! Appoints Fashion and Beauty Editor

Aishwarya Tyagi has joined ITP Publishing as Fashion and Beauty Editor for Masala!. Previously Picture Editor and Writer at Grazia Middle East and most recently Editorial Assistant at Mojeh magazine, Aishawarya has over six years of PR and journalism experience which she will bring to her new role. As Fashion and Beauty Editor, she will be responsible for the fashion and beauty, as well as lifestyle features including; travel, food and society.

Gareth Warren joins GN Guides

GN Guides, part of Gulf News, has promoted Gareth Warren to the role of Editor. Previously Deputy Editor at #GNTECH where he launched the brand, he will now oversee all editorial as well as organise and review content for the Guides section.

“Having launched the #GNTECH brand, I’m definitely going to miss it and I wish the new team there the best of luck, I will always be its biggest fan!” says Gareth. “GN Guides is an exciting challenge as it’s a fairly new section on gulfnews.com. Olivia Phillips joins Grazia Middle East

Fashion and lifestyle magazines Grazia Middle East, Grazia Qatar and Grazia Luxury, part of the ITP Publishing group, welcome Olivia Phillips to the role of Deputy Editor. With 10 years of experience, Olivia most recently worked as Fashion Features Editor for Emirates Woman, where she was responsible for fashion and beauty features. Previously she held positions at Stylist UK and Net-a-Porter.com and has written for You magazine, Refinery29.com and MatchesFashion.com.

APP Media Group to host Young Arab Awards

APP Media Group is set to host the first Young Arab Awards on December 6, 2016 in the UAE. The awards aims to recognise young Arabs for their outstanding achievements in a number of fields including business, science and social media. They will also announce a winner for the Young Arab of the Year Award 2016. Nominees will be shortlisted by a panel of judges, including renowned author, Caher Khazaal, former UK Ambassador to Lebanon, Tom Fletcher and CEO, OMG MENA, Elie Khouri, as well as special guest of honour, Roger Waters from Pink Floyd. Nominations for the awards are currently open and can be made through www.youngarabawards.com.
