CitizenK appoints Editor-in-Chief

GN Publishing has welcomed Esther Quek to the role of Editor-in-Chief for new, luxury fashion titles CitizenK Arabia and CitizenK Homme. With over ten years of media experience across the UAE, Asia and Australia, Esther will be leaving her role as Group Fashion Director at APP Gulf – where she has worked on The Rake, Revolution, Conde Nast Traveller, Stylist Arabia and the Hello! Group – to join GN Publishing. In her new role, she will be overseeing both print publications which are due to be launched later this month.

Stylist to host social media awards

APP Media Group will host the first Stylist Arabia Social Media Awards UAE, on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. The awards will recognise digital innovators in the UAE, with categories highlighting global influencers in the fields of fashion, beauty, food and travel. The event will also include a special award for Stylist’s Social Media Influencer of the Year, as well as a Rising Social Media Star of the Year.

Nominees will be shortlisted by a panel of experts, including Stylist‘s own social media guru and Fashion Director, Esther Quek; Conde Nast Traveller ME Editor in Chief, Rhea Saran and Architectural Digest’s ME Editor in Chief, Manuel Arnaut. Once shortlisted, the nominees, their followers and Stylist readers will vote for their winner via the Stylist Social Media Awards website. Winners will be announced at the gala event.

“Social media in the region has revolutionised the fashion and style landscape in the UAE, highlighting and localising the latest trends with personalised creativity,” says Sue Holt, Executive Director, APP. “We are delighted to recognise and reward these online content creators as contributors in the industry and encourage growth for influencers to expand their reach online.”

UAE Minister of Tolerance to speak at Stylist Event

The new UAE Minister of Tolerance, HE Sheikha Lubna bint Khaled al Qasimi, is to make a keynote speech at the Stylist Arabia International Women’s Day event to be held on March 7, 2016 at the Beach Lounge, Jumeirah Beach Hotel. Sheikha Lubna will unveil the magazine’s first ever Stylist 50 list of the UAE’s Most Inspirational Women and will present awards to five specially selected women for outstanding achievement. Drawn from various sectors, including business, finance, arts, science, philanthropy, entertainment and sport, The Stylist 50 list features both Arab and expatriate women living in the UAE.

“Sheikha Lubna is without doubt one of the UAE’s most inspirational women of the past few decades, with a truly outstanding career at the highest levels of both business and government,” says Kerry McDermott, Editor, Stylist Arabia. “Her presence at the event is a huge honour for all the women who will be attending and will be all the more significant as it is on the even of International Women’s Day.”

Devinder Bains leaves Stylist Arabia

Devinder Bains has stepped down as Editor of Stylist Arabia. After being with the magazine since 2014, Devinder will join the recently launched lovindubai.com as Editor. LovinDubai.com is a lifestyle website covering all things local including food, news, opinion and events. The online publication delivers content to readers through a cheeky tone, fun lists and local knowledge.

Devinder brings over 15 years of journalism experience to her new role, as well as launching Stylist Arabia over a year ago, she was formerly Features Director of Fabulous, the UK Sun on Sunday newspaper’s magazine, and prior to this was Features Editor of Look magazine and Head of Features at IPC Media’s Real Life Group in the UK.

“After the successful launch of Stylist Arabia, I’m ready for a new challenge,” says Devinder. “LovinDubai.com is new but already doing brilliantly well due to its fresh, no nonsense attitude and high quality editorial. Mary Katranzou to collaborate with Stylist Arabia

Fashion designer Mary Katrantzou has teamed up with Stylist Arabia magazine to guest edit a September issue of the weekly title. Enlisting the help of many of her friends, including make-up artists, models and philanthropists, Mary will be in charge of the issue, giving readers an exclusive sneak peak at her upcoming Spring/Summer 2016 collection. She will also be providing readers with her pick of products on the Style List and discussing the role of strong women in the fashion industry today, Mary will be joined on the cover by her long-term muse and supermodel, Yasmin Le Bon. The issue is scheduled for release on September 15, 2015.

“I am thrilled to be the Guest Editor of this issue of Stylist,” says Mary. “It has been an amazing experience to put my spin on a medium that I have never worked in before, and to challenge myself. Stylist presents such an important voice for modern women, so I wanted my issue to embrace this and celebrate women who have inspired me throughout my career.”

Motivate Publishing welcomes Katie Sadler

Katie Sadler has joined Motivate Publishing as Sponsorship Sales Manager. Bringing with her a wealth of experience including established relationships with clients, PRs and media agencies in the UAE, Katie will be working with the events team to drive sponsorship and creative solutions sales for company events, both new and established. She will also be assisting the Motivate marketing team in managing existing business relationships, as well as establishing new ones.

Boasting over 10 years of experience in media sales, working for IPC Media in London before her move to Dubai, Katie has most recently held the position of Senior Advertising Manager for Stylist Arabia, part of APP.

“I have joined Motivate as Sponsorship Sales Manager to work alongside the event teams on their prestigious portfolio of activations,” says Katie. “I am very excited to be part of the Motivate family, and look forward to the challenges my new role will bring.”

Previously holding the role of Acting Lifestyle Editor at the Arab Publishing Partners’ (APP) weekly title, Michaela boasts years of editorial experience in women’s lifestyle, having worked across publications including Good Housekeeping Middle East, Qantas The Australian Way and Cosmopolitan Australia, as well as editing beauty blog Lather Rinse Repeat.

Fashion and lifestyle weekly Stylist Arabia has welcomed the new members of its editorial team. In addition to Devinder Bains as Editor of the magazine, Laura Chubb joins as Acting Deputy Editor, with Dina Yassin as Acting Fashion and Beauty Editor.

Set to launch this October, the weekly ‘freemium’ magazine will start with a circulation of 50,000 across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, offering a mix of high-end fashion, beauty, entertainment and thought-provoking features to smart, sophisticated and successful women in the region.
