Arab News appoints Faisal J. Abbas

Former Editor of Al Arabiya News Channel‘s English language service, www.alarabiya.new/English, Faisal J. Abbas will be the new Editor-in-Chief of Saudi Arabia’s English language daily newspaper Arab News. Part of Riyadh-based Saudi Research and Marketing (SRMG), the Middle East’s largest integrated publishing company, Arab News was established in the region in 1975 and has been home to a number of influential English-speaking Editors as well as Journalists and Faisal will be working to take the publication global. Having joined the Al Arabiya News Channel in 2012, Faisal worked to relaunch and expand news coverage of the channel’s English language digital platform. Associate Editor Ammar Aziz will now handle interim management of the service.

Virgin Radio welcomes Sheena Kay

Virgin Radio 104.4 has welcomed Sheena Kay to its presenter line-up. The Canadian radio personality formerly worked on The Sheena Show on Radio 1 UAE and will now present new show, Non Stop Hits with Sheena, every weekday between 10am and 1pm, which aims to bring her passion and knowledge of music, as well as celebrity news and gossip, to the station.

Lucy Self joins Q Communications

Lifestyle and PR agency Q Communications has welcomed Lucy Self to the role of Senior Executive. With over ten years of experience in PR, journalism, marketing and copywriting, Lucy most recently worked with Anteater PR where she was responsible for a number of accounts including; giraffe and Dominic Ansel. In her new role, she will be working with Q Communications Abu Dhabi on all media operations, from engaging press campaigns to generating sharp social media content.

“I chose to join Q Communications because I’d heard they were one of the best in the business, with a reputation that reached as far as London when I was looking to relocate,” says Lucy. “Judging from my first couple of days, I’m joining a hard working and inspiring team. Charlotte Brown joins TOH PR

TOH PR has welcomed Charlotte Brown to the role of Head of Lifestyle. With over 25 years of experience in media, Charlotte has worked with international luxury brands including; Cartier, Diptyque Paris and Crème de la Mer as well as holding positions such as Executive Retail Editor for major titles that include; Harper’s Bazaar UK and Glamour UK.

In her new role, she will work closely alongside Director of Middle East Operations, Joanna Lane Simm and Daniel Cotter, Head of Corporate, who joined the TOH senior management team earlier this summer; together they will lead the ongoing development and direction of TOH PR.

With over three years of experience in PR and communications, Sarah has previously worked both in-house as well as part of an agency. Publicis Media appoints new leadership in the Levant

Publicis Media, part of Publicis Groupe, has made key leadership appointments for operations in the Levant market. Wilson Issa, who has been leading the Groupe in the region since 2007, has been named Executive Vice President of Publicis Media Levant. Joyce Hallak, who has 15 years of experience in media across a number of markets, will take on the role of General Manager, Starcom Levant and Head of Business Transformation, Publicis Media Levant. Paul Seif has now taken on the role of General Manager at Mediavest | Spark Levant, where he will lead the team on business wins and leverage the agency’s capabilities, scale, partnerships and talent.

Senior Executives promoted at PHD

PHD, a division of Omnicom Media Group MENA, has promoted both its UAE Managing Director and General Manager in Dubai. Elda Choucair, previously Managing Director at PHD UAE, will now take on the role of CEO, PHD MENA which will involve her replicating her performance across new, as well as existing, offices in the region and, on top of this adding to her UAE responsibilities.

Luca Allam, previously General Manager for PHD Dubai, will now take on the role of Managing Director, PHD UAE. In this role, he will utilise his eleven years of experience in media in order to oversee the agency’s offices in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

OMD makes changes to management structure

Omnicom Media Group MENA, holding group of OMD, PHD and Resolution in the Middle East, has made a number of promotions and changes to it’s management structure in the region. Nadim Samara has been promoted from Managing Director to the newly-created position of CEO, OMD, UAE. With over 15 years of experience with OMD, Nadim has international experience with the firm and will now manage it’s UAE operation, as well as ensure that the regional headquarters continue to develop its product offering and maintain its cutting edge in the areas of talent, innovation, analytics, data and performance.

Wissam Najjar will also now relocate to Dubai in order to take on the newly-created role of Regional Managing Director for the Lower Gulf, Levant and Emerging Markets. Previously Managing Director of OMD Levant, Wissam has worked across the OMD network and will now assume the additional responsibilities of OMD’s operations in Kuwait and Qatar, as well as its expansion into new markets in the MENA region. Former Director of Investments at OMD Lebanon, Rachid El Khazen has been promoted to the role of General Manager to take over from Najjar.
