New appointment at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray

Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, part of Jumeirah Group has appointed Raziena Cajee to the role of Director of Marketing and Communications. With over 12 years of experience in corporate marketing communications, Raziena joined Jumeirah Group in 2005 and most recently held the position of Brand Marketing Communications Manager, where she lead the brand strategy and development as well as the management of Jumeriah Group’s Dubai team. In her new role, she will work alongside Katja Graf, Director of Sales and Marketing at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray to further develop and lead the resort’s marketing and communications team across PR, marketing and partnership development.

FourFourTwo Arabia welcomes new Editor

Newly launched football magazine, FourFourTwo Arabia has appointed Ali Khaled to the role of Editor. Ali previously worked with 7DAYS as Managing Editor and with The National as Senior Sports Columnist after which he most recently worked as a freelance writer. In his new role, he will oversee the editorial content of FourFourTwo Arabia and develop an engaging digital presence as well as concise content strategies for the growth of the magazine across the region.

The Pro Chef Middle East to relaunch in the Middle East

The Pro Chef Middle East, part of CPI Media Group is set to relaunch in September 2017 across the Middle East. The relaunch will see the magazine’s print and online issue published quarterly and will focus on chef interviews, recipes, industry trends and news. The magazine will be distributed as a complimentary publication to professional culinary teams as well as leading F&B suppliers and producers across the region.

The relaunch will also see the appointment of Sophie McCarrick to the role of Editor. Having worked across the group’s titles for five years, Sophie was previously Deputy Editor of The Pro Chef Middle East and is currently Editor of BBC Good Food Middle East, which she will continue to hold. In her new role, she will be responsible for all print content planning within the magazine as well as writing, editing and conceptualising new ideas for features and supplements. She will also assist with the planning of brand events such as chef competitions and the annual The Pro Chef Middle East Awards, to be held in November 2017.

Architectural Digest ME appoints new Editor-in-Chief

Architectural Digest Middle East, part of APP Media Group has appointed Talib Choudhry to the role of Editor-in-Chief starting September 2017. With extensive knowledge in the magazine industry, Talib started out in the UK with ELLE’s features team and moved on to Sunday Times Style as Interior Editor. He also worked with Arena as Associate Editor and with ELLE Decoration as Deputy Editor, after which he most recently worked with Telegraph Media Group as Design and Interior Editor, and with ELLE Decoration as Editor-at-Large. In his new role, he will oversee all of Architectural Digest Middle East’s editorial content and contribute to its strategic development across the region.

New appointment at Bauer Works

Bauer Works, part of Bauer Media has appointed Michaela Williams to the role of Digital Content Creator. Michaela previously joined Bauer Media Australia in 2010 and later moved to Dubai, where she worked in-house as Acting Editor at ITP Media Group’s publication, Stylist Arabia and then with Bauer Works as a freelance contributor. She currently works as a freelance Beauty Writer for GN Publishing’s titles, Citizen K Arabia and Friday. In her new role, she will rejoin Bauer Works team part-time and work on visitdubai.com as well as on its multi-media and content channels. She will also provide coverage on the best things to see, do, taste and buy in Dubai with a focus on as-it-happens content.

“After previously working in-house for Bauer Media Australia and then freelancing for the media group from Dubai, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to rejoin Bauer Works and to work with the dynamic DTCM team,” says Michaela. “I’ll be spending three days a week covering the best things to see, do, taste and buy in Dubai, with a focus on as-it-happens content dedicated to this extraordinary city.”

Lovin Dubai makes structural changes

Online guide, Lovin Dubai, has made structural changes to its team following its expansion in the UAE. Caitlyn Davey will take on the role of Editor having recently held the position of Deputy Editor at Lovin Dubai. In her new role she will oversee the editorial content and the Lovin brand within Dubai as well as the brand’s expansion into Saudi Arabia in September, 2017.

Casey Fitzgerald who previously worked as a freelance Contributing Writer at Lovin Dubai will now join the team full-time as Deputy Editor and work closely alongside the existing team to help develop the editorial aspect of the site.

FIPP appoints new President and CEO

FIPP has appointed James Hewes to the role of President and CEO starting September, 2017. James previously worked in the UK with BBC Worldwide’s Haymarket Exhibitions as Director and The Art Newspaper as Interim CEO. He later moved to the UAE and worked at Gulf News Publishing as Publishing Director, was appointed to FIPP’s Management Board as Director in 2015 and founded his own company, Soho Consultancy in 2016. In his new role, he will lead the FIPP team to ensure that they continue to deliver products and services that reflect their growth and strategic development as well as enhance the team’s ability to thrive in the changing media environment.

Ali Nehme promoted at Publicis Media

Publicis Media, part of Publicis Groupe has promoted Ali Nehme to President of Innovation and Commerce, EMEA starting September, 2017. Ali joined Publicis Groupe in 2008 as a part of Starcom Mediavest Group and most recently held the position of Chief Strategy Officer at Publicis Media, where he oversaw the development and execution of the agency’s vision and strategy. In his new role, he will work with the leadership team in the region to accelerate growth and report to Iain Jacob, the CEO of Publicis Media EMEA, as well as continue to report to Steve Parker, the CEO of Publicis Media Middle East. He will also be responsible for driving an innovation agenda for the agency with a primary focus on strengthening and building an e-commerce strategy and roadmap to ensure scaled solutions across all markets in the EMEA region.

BPG Cohn & Wolfe makes senior appointments

BPG Cohn & Wolfe has made three new appointments following the expansion plan of its corporate and technology practice. Hala Sarieddine has taken on the role of Account Director having previously worked with Weber Shandwick and most recently with Hill+Knowlton Strategies. Also appointed to the role of Account Director is Ajith Henry who has experience in handling financial services clients and previously worked with APCO as well as ASDA’A Burson-Marsteller.

Mara Carpencu joins the team as Associate Account Director having previously worked with Active DMC, where she worked across integrated communications campaigns for international B2B and B2C clients she brings with her experience in communications and events.

In their new role, they will join the senior management team at BPG Cohn & Wolfe and build the current client portfolio of the agency, which includes KPMG, HMD Global – the home of Nokia phones, Booz Allen Hamilton and Omantel. They will also deliver innovative solutions to build, protect and enhance the brand value of the agency’s clients.

New promotion at DDB Dubai

DDB Dubai has appointed Iris Minnema to the role of Managing Director. Having joined DDB Amsterdam as Senior Account Manager in 2007, Iris moved to Dubai and most recently held the position of Business Director, where she worked across clients such as Johnson & Johnson, McDonald’s and Dubai Parks and Resorts. In her new role, she will report to Hubert Boulos, CEO of DDB Middle East and lead the operations of the Dubai office.
