ITP Publishing welcomes David Thompson

ITP Publishing has welcomed David Thompson to the role of Editor, Hotelier Express. Previously, David was Deputy Editor of Construction Machinery Middle East at CPI Media Group, where he wrote news and feature articles for the magazine and website. In his new role, David will be covering news, site visits to hotels, interviewing key figures, conducting workshops on industry topics with experts in the region, product reviews and market analysis. He will be responsible for all editorial content for the new monthly trade magazine, aimed at hospitality professionals managing budget and mid-market hotels.

 

Sophie McCarrick promoted at BBC Good Food

Sophie McCarrick has been promoted from Acting Editor to Editor of BBC Good Food Middle East, part of CPI Media Group. Having previously worked for The Pro Chef and Hospitality Business – both also CPI publications – she will bring a total of six years of experience in journalism to her new role. As Editor, Sophie will now be responsible for all content planning within the magazine, as well as writing, editing, conceptualising new ideas for features and supplements and leading and planning Food Club events.

“I’m so excited about my new role with BBC Good Food Middle East,” says Sophie. “My journey in the industry began with this publication when I first interned with CPI Media Group – I’m so thrilled to have achieved this title and can’t wait to see what the future brings!”

Voting opens for BBC Good Food Awards 2015

Voting has now opened for the sixth annual BBC Good Food Middle East Awards, hosted by BBC Good Food Middle East, part of CPI Media Group. There are 28 awards up for grabs this year, with categories including ‘Chef of the Year’, ‘Best Brunch’ and ‘Best Food Blogger’. Consumers are encouraged to vote for their favourite nominees in each category online, with the exception of Chef of the Year, who will be determined by an independent judging panel.

Surena Chande joins BBC Good Food

BBC Good Food magazine, part of CPI Media Group, has welcomed Surena Chande to the role of Assistant Editor. Bringing over two years of experience in writing and editing to her new role, Surena will be responsible for planning and conceptualising content, writing, editing and proofing a range of articles as well as weekly newsletters and uploading website content.

“I’m thrilled to now be a part of the wonderful BBC Good Food team at CPI Media and look forward to the exciting upcoming challenges that this role will bring,” says Surena.

Melanie Mingas joins BNC Publishing

BNC Publishing has welcomed Melanie Mingas to the role of Group Editor of its business portfolio. Melanie previously worked with CPI Media Group as Group Managing Editor, and has over five years of experience in journalism.

In her new role, she will lead the continued growth of Catering News Middle EastConstruction Business News Middle EastHotel News Middle East and Logistics News Middle East in print, online and through a series of industry events. Melanie will also lead the group’s B2B digital communications and manage the direction of a series of events due to take place over the coming months.

CPI Media promotes Adelle Geronimo

CPI Media Group has promoted Adelle Geronimo to the role of Online Editor for its Technology and Finance division. Having worked with CPI for over two years, Adelle was most recently Editorial Assistant for the Business and Consumer division, overseeing the web content of publications such as SME Advisory, Trade & Export ME and BBC Good Food ME.

In her new role as Online Editor, Adelle will be managing and monitoring the web and social media contents of the titles Computer News ME, Reseller ME and CFO ME, focusing on further strengthening the titles’ online presence while providing readers with the latest news and trends in the IT and finance industries.

“I am extremely excited to be part of the Technology and Finance team of CPI,” says Adelle. “Today everything is going digital, almost every industry is leveraging the growth of online platforms, and I’m honoured to be entrusted with further growing our online presence.”

MEConstructionNews.com launched

MEConstructionNews.com, a portal to serve the Middle East’s expanding construction industry has been launched in Dubai. The venture comes about as an exclusive poll carried out by CPI Media Group revealed that 45 percent of regional professionals in the field prefer to read news online. MEConstructionNews.com will feature daily updates about the sector from a staff of journalists specialising in key topics, including consultancy, machinery and sustainability.

The platform is part of CPI Media Group, which publishes leading magazines including Big Project and Construction Machinery Middle East. Writers and editors from all titles, as well as the group’s international staff – in locations such as the UK and Germany – will be contributing regularly to the website.

BR Comms wins at SME Stars of Business Awards

SME Advisor to host Roadmap for Growth Conference

SME Advisor, a leading publication for business owners published by CPI Media Group, has announced the final line up for its one-day conference entitled ‘Roadmap for Growth’. Hosted in association with strategic partners National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) and Etisalat, the event is expected to draw a crowd of over 400 owners and managers of SME businesses across the GCC. Georgina Wilson-Powell to step down at CPI Media

Georgina Wilson-Powell has announced she will step down at CPI Media Group at the end of next week. Having worked at CPI Media Group as Group Editor since November 2011, launching Hospitality Business Middle East in 2012 and Lonely Planet Traveller Middle East in 2013, Georgina is giving up her newly appointed position as Group Managing Editor to travel before returning to the UK.

“It’s been a wonderful couple of years working with CPI Media Group launching some really dynamic and different titles to the market,” says Georgina. “I’m very proud of all I’ve achieved with the company but after six years in Dubai it’s time to slowly make my way back to the UK.”

Georgina will be available for freelance work on print and digital titles, with a focus on travel and lifestyle.
