Ben Rossi bids farewell to CNME

Computer News Middle East (CNME) Editor Ben Rossi bids farewell to CPI Media Group and its flagship magazine title this week as he prepares to leave Dubai for his new editorial role in London. Ben joined CNME – the Middle East’s leading technology publication – as Sub Editor in January 2012 and was promoted to Editor in August 2012 at the age of 23. This Thursday will mark his last day at the title.

Ben commences his new role as Editor of Information Age print magazine and online publication on November 4, 2013. Information Age is the UK’s leading monthly IT publication.

“I owe a lot to CPI for giving me the opportunity to be the editor of its flagship magazine at such a young age,” says Ben. “It was a great honour being able to put my stamp on a brand and title as superb as CNME. CPI is a fantastic publisher to work for and it will be very sad leaving having made some great friends at the company. I’ve had a terrific time in the Middle East, but am now looking forward to my new challenge at Information Age in London.”

New Content Director to join Seven Media

Anthony Richardson has been confirmed as the new Content Director at Seven Media. The former Assistant News Editor for The National and most recently Bureau Chief at Bloomberg in Hong Kong, will commence his new role on November 3, 2013.

In addition to editing all English language output from the agency including press releases, collaterals and social media plans, Anthony will also oversee the corporate brochures division and the multimedia team. Anthony will work closely with Janty Nakhesh who heads up the Arabic team to ensure all content produced is of an exceptional standard.

New Beauty Editor for Style.com Arabia

Elizabeth Whiston-Dew has today joined Style.com/Arabia as Beauty Editor. Formerly Beauty Editor of the Emirates Woman Group at Motivate Publishing, Elizabeth has spent the past three years working across titles such as Emirates Woman, Emirates Bride, Spend It and Luxe. Elizabeth will now oversee all beauty pages within Style.com Arabia, which is an English and Arabic language online magazine.

Gemma White has been announced as the new Group Editor for OK! Middle East and Viva magazine. Gemma, who returns to ITP Publishing after two years at the Gulf News Group, will oversee the day-to-day running of OK! Middle East plus manage supplements and brand extensions. She will also have a creative input to Viva, the home-grown ITP title that launched nine years ago, which is now edited by Anita Quade.

SMG appoints Global President of LiquidThread

Olivier Gers has joined Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) as Global President, LiquidThread, SMG’s branded entertainment content unit. He will be based out of the SMG London office and will report to Brian Terkelsen, CEO of MediaVest, who will continue to have executive oversight over LiquidThread in addition to his MediaVest role.

In his new role, Gers will be responsible for building the global LiquidThread business and expanding opportunities around the world with brands, local production studios, networks and distribution organizations. He will oversee a range of content marketing offerings, including digital marketing strategies, core partnership models and the development of brand programming. Working across disciplines, Gers will develop strategies that marry ideas with platforms to drive business for SMG’s roster of clients. He will partner closely with Brent Poer, who will continue to serve as President, SMG LiquidThread North America, reporting to Terkelsen. All regional leadership outside of North America will report to Olivier.

He managed a 50+ person global team responsible for all commercial extensions across licensing, merchandising, digital, gambling, gaming, live events, sponsorship and brand relations and music publishing.

Gers was named Advertising Age Entertainment Marketer of the Year in 2007 and has served as an active industry spokesperson over the years, including engagements at MipTV, the largest market and showcase for international TV content development; NATPE; World Congress of Sports; UBS Media and Communications Conference; Forbes Breakout Conference, and more.

Zaina Shihabi resigns from Mother, Baby & Child

Zaina Shihabi has resigned from her position as Editor of Mother, Baby & Child Magazine, a publication run by CPI Media Group. Zaina has relocated to the UK to pursue her master’s degree but will continue to work on the title until her replacement has been appointed.

“I have enjoyed every minute of my time spent on Mother, Baby & Child Magazine,” says Zaina. “It was a difficult decision to make, but I have followed my heart and am looking forward to continuing my education at Liverpool Hope University. I would like to thank all those who have supported the title since launch and I hope this support is passed to the new Editor when the position is filled.”
