Shefki Nawaz joins Capital D Studio

Shefki Nawaz has been appointed as Associate Director of D the Agency at Capital D Studio. Joining the team from New York, Shefki brings over a decade of experience working with renowned photographers and brands. She has contributed to countless internationally-acclaimed advertising campaigns, including Dior, Shiseido, Rag & Bone, Chloe, Cover Girl, Land Rover, Club Monaco, NIKE, Pantene and Cool Water. Shefki has also worked extensively with VogueNuméro, W and Interview Magazine. Shefki now joins the sister company of Capital D Studio, where she will manage the existing roster of creative talent, as well as signing new talent from the region and beyond.

“It’s really exciting to be in Dubai – it’s a new and challenging market,” says Shefki. “We have already signed some incredible new talent and I look forward to more announcements coming very soon.”

Lucy Bettoney joins Seven Media

Lucy Bettoney has joined the Seven Media team as PR and Media Relations Manager. With eight years of experience, Lucy worked on many areas of PR at Next Retail in the UK from regional to national womenswear and menswear, in roles spanning from Assistant Press Officer to Senior Press Officer. In her new role, Lucy will be working on PR and social media for a number of fashion brands in the Seven Media portfolio.

Gareth Warren is promoted at Gulf News

Gareth Warren has been appointed to the position of Deputy Editor – Technology, Gulf News Publishing. A Features Writer within the magazines, GN Focus and Contract Publishing department at Gulf News since 2012, Gareth has written across a range of topics including lifestyle, country and industry reports, sports and motoring, with a strong focus on technology. Working alongside the Editor, Gareth will now apply his extensive journalist experience to the technology sector of Gulf News Publishing.

Shilpa Abhilash promoted at arabianEye

Shilpa Abhilash has been promoted to the position of Account Manager at arabianEye. Having been with the company since 2013 as Account Executive, Shilpa has worked across a number of arabianEye’s editorial and commercial clients as it focuses on the distribution and production of stock images and videos in the MENA region. In her new position, she will now represent Corbis in the Middle East.

“Having lived and studied in Dubai all my life, I decided to build my career in this dynamic city and have worked at arabianEye ever since,” says Shilpa. “It’s been a rewarding and challenging experience – I’ve certainly learned a lot. Arabian Business welcomes new Chief Reporter

Sarah Townsend has joined the Arabian Business team as Chief Reporter. With over eight years of journalist experience, Sarah has contributed news and features to both national and specialist publications including the Financial Times, The Sun, The Daily Telegraph, Irish Times, Drapers and outdoor lifestyle website Wideworldmag.com. Sarah joins ITP Publishing from London where she was most recently Publications Editor at the Architects’ Journal, producing customer-led monographs, supplements and special reports in print and digital. In her new role, Sarah will be covering business news and current affairs across the GCC for the weekly business publication.

PRCo appoints new Account Director

Eleanore Longley has been appointed as Account Director at the Dubai office of luxury PR agency PRCo. Eleanore has worked in public relations for over six years, having gained experience at specialist luxury travel and restaurant agencies in London. She joins from Roche Communications where she held the position of Account Director since 2013 and prior to this was Account Manager for two years. Eleanore has been responsible for a number of high-profile restaurants, bars and hotels, including Brasserie Blanc, Drake & Morgan, Young’s Hotels, ‘rhubarb’, Pullman London St Pancreas, Revere, TwoRuba and Michelin-starred Northcote.

In her new role, Eleanore will play a key part in devising strategy and delivering results for PRCo’s existing clients, as well as overseeing the day-to-day activity of the team and expanding the business portfolio of the company.

Katie Trotter joins Harper’s Bazaar Arabia

Katie Trotter has joined Harper’s Bazaar Arabia as Fashion & Beauty Director. With more than a decade of experience in the fashion industry, Katie has worked as a Fashion Editor at the Daily Mail and most recently at Luxury Magazine, as well as producing and styling more than 50 high-spec fashion editorials worldwide for print media in the luxury sector, in addition to styling celebrities, advertising campaigns and TV commercials. Having lived in the UAE for a number of years, Katie will now apply her skills at ITP Publishing to oversee all fashion and beauty content for the premium monthly publication.

Staff promotions at PHD

PHD UAE has promoted five senior employees following its business growth in 2014. Firstly, Ian Dolan has been promoted to the newly created position of Strategy Director. As a Planning Director for the last three years, he will now contribute to the strategic direction of all accounts, driving business development as well as spearheading the creative and innovation agenda for the agency and its clients.

Charli Ursell has been appointed to the position of Digital Director, after leading on the development of initiatives regarded as ‘best in class’ globally by key clients as Digital Associate Director for almost two years. Rachel Maher is now Marketing Director, following the creation and deployment of a rich programme of initiatives, as well as her contribution to business development activities and account wins in the position of Marketing Manager.

Following several years of managing one of PHD’s largest accounts with consistent qualitative output, Nawal Nasreddine has been promoted to Planning Director, as well as Karen Doumet who is also promoted to the position of Planning Director, following an impeccable track record with clients.

OMD Arabia undergoes internal restructure

In response to the significant increase in billings in 2014, OMD Arabia has undergone a management restructuring and named new General Managers for its offices in Riyadh and Jeddah.

Toni El Rahi, previously General Manager of OMD Riyadh, has taken the role of Business Development Director for OMD Arabia’s parent company, Omnicom Media Group Saudi Arabia, reporting to CEO Choucrallah Abou Samra. In this role, he will capitalise on his vast network of connections and his talent for identifying and securing the best client relationships across the group. Toni will also hold the general management responsibilities of PHD Riyadh.

Faisal Shams, most recently a Business Unit Director at OMD UAE, has been promoted to General Manager for OMD Arabia, additionally managing its Riyadh office. Having gained significant experience climbing through the ranks of planning with the agency, Faisal will be responsible for building the business, strengthening the brand and deepening client relationship across the Kingdom and Riyadh.

Finally, Hani Dajani has been appointed as General Manager of OMD Jeddah, reporting to Faisal Shams. Most recently holding the position of Head of Planning, his primary objective in his new role is to maintain the network’s leading position in the Jeddah market and drive its digital and innovation agendas forward.

FleishmanHillard welcomes new Associate Director

Damian Brandy has joined FleishmanHillard’s Dubai office as Associate Director. A former journalist who has worked with publications in the UAE and the UK, Damian was most recently with APCO Worldwide as Associate Director where he managed signature clients including Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company. In his new position, Damian oversees FleishmanHillard’s clients including UBS, Jones Day, Bosch and Emerson.
