Ahlan! magazine reveals new editorial team

Ahlan! magazine, part of ITP Media Group, has made major appointments and structural changes to reveal a brand new editorial team. Mark Dinning, previously Editor-in-Chief of British film magazine, Empire has been appointed to the role of Editorial Director. He brings with him extensive experience in the publishing and entertainment industry and will focus on new projects as well as the development of the brand’s digital and print portfolio.

Following the appointment of Andre Neveling as Editor, Ellen Kerry will be joining him as Deputy Editor. Having previously worked in the UK with heat magazine as Style Editor and most recently as a freelance Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle Editor, Ellen will take on her new role and work alongside Andre across local and international editorial content of the title.

Elizabeth Ingram will take on the role of Managing Art Director, ITP Consumer. With experience in working on global media titles including Time Out magazine as Group Art Director and Grazia magazine as Senior Designer, Elizabeth’s new role will be to oversee the art direction of the Ahlan! brand.

Previously Advertising Director at Ahlan! magazine, Walid Chehab has been promoted to Commercial Director of the Ahlan! Group. In his new role, he will be responsible for driving the revenue across the brand’s print, digital and event portfolio.

InsideOut welcomes new Editor

Interiors and design title, InsideOut, part of GN Media, has appointed Mairead Walsh to the role of Editor. Previously Travel Editor for the Contract Publishing Division at GN Media, Mairead took on the role of Associate Editor for InsideOut six months ago, before being promoted to Editor. In her new role, she will oversee all editorial content for the title as well as lead and grow the InsideOut brand.

New appointments at Total Communications

Dubai-based PR agency, Total Communications has made new additions to its team. Hanae Ouakrime, who had started her career with Total Communications in 2011, before moving to Weber Shandwick as Senior Account Manager in 2014, has re-joined the agency as Account Director. Amii Cumming, previously Communications Officer with the National Health Service (UK) will take on the role of Digital Communications Manager.

Ahlan! welcomes Andre Neveling

Ahlan! magazine, part of ITP Media Group, has appointed Andre Neveling to the role of Editor. With over ten years of regional and international experience in the media industry, Andre previously worked in South Africa with Media24 and in the UK with Northern and Shell Media Group, before joining ITP Media Group in 2015, where he worked as Online Editor of Ahlan! and then Editor of Time Out Abu Dhabi. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing the magazine and its website as well as leading news, interviewing celebrities for features and deciding on cover lines on a weekly basis.

Farooq Salik goes freelance

Farooq Salik, former Senior Photographer and Studio Manager at Motivate Publishing has gone freelance. Having joined Motivate Publishing in 2005, Farooq has over 15 years of experience and has worked across a number of consumer and customer publications including Hello!, Emirates Woman, What’s On, Golf Digest, Emirates Man, Dubai Voyager, good, Gulf Business and Campaign. He will continue to work as a professional photographer for studio, on location and for events as well as offer creative social media content and services.

“I had a fantastic time working at Motivate, but I felt like the time was right to move on and make use of the experience I gained from working for a period of over 11 years at Motivate,” says Farooq. “I’m really excited about taking this next step and seeing what challenges lie ahead. I want to establish a reliable and efficient image and work as a social media content provider in the market which I feel is very rare here in Dubai.”

Millennium Airport Hotel makes new appointment

Millennium Airport Hotel Dubai has appointed Sheryl Aquiatan to the role of Assistant Marketing Manager. With over ten years of experience in the hospitality industry, Sheryl previously worked with Ramada Hotel Bur Dubai, Millennium Plaza Hotel and most recently with Wyndham Hotel group for Ramada Plaza Jumeirah Beach and Ramada Sharjah. In her new role, she will manage the new and upcoming initiatives following the launch of the hotel’s new facilities and develop new marketing strategies to contribute to the growth of the hotel’s reputation across the region.

FP7 appoints new Account Manager

FP7 Dubai welcomes Sagar Patel to the role of Account Manager. Previously Senior Regional Communication Executive at Leo Burnett, Dubai, Sagar will now handle the advertising account for Majid Al Futtaim Leisure and Entertainment.

House of Comms welcomes Jasmine O’Brien

Dubai-based integrated communications agency, House of Comms has appointed Jasmine O’Brien to the role of Junior Account Manager. With over six years of experience, Jasmine previously worked with Tourism Ireland and most recently with Lidl as PR Manager where she worked on local and international projects as well as high-profile campaigns across retail, tourism, lifestyle, beauty and fashion accounts before moving to Dubai. In her new role, she will manage and work across House of Comms’ portfolio of clients through PR operations and media campaigns.

UM Qatar makes new promotion

Creative media agency, UM Qatar, part of UM MENA has promoted Hanan Tabsh to the role of General Manager. Having joined UM Qatar in 2011, Hanan worked across a portfolio of the company’s clients and business projects, and she most recently held the position of Business Director. In her new role, she will manage the daily operations and planning of UM Qatar as well as formulate strategies towards the success of the agency.

New appointment at The Digital Foundry

Dubai-based boutique creative agency, The Digital Foundry has appointed Urvashi Bhat to the role of Manager, Business Strategy and Clients Relations. With over ten years of experience in retail marketing and brand management in the GCC, Urvashi previously worked with several global brands including Aldo, Kenneth Cole and bebe, and most recently with Inglot as Brand Manager. In her new role, she will work on developing existing accounts as well as finding new business and working on strategies for the expansion of the agency.
