BPG Cohn & Wolfe promotes Shady Fekry

BPG Cohn & Wolfe has promoted Shady Fekry to the role of Senior Media Relations Executive. Having joined BPG Cohn & Wolfe in 2013, Shady most recently held the role of Media Executive and has worked across a number of clients including Emirates Literature Foundation, LEGO Video Games, Calvin Klein, The Cheesecake Factory and Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Centre. In his new role, he will continue to manage all the media relations, day to day press communication, reporting and media analysis for Nakheel Malls,, DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island as well as Emirates Literature Foundation.

Shortlist for Young PR Lions MENA 2018 announced

PRCA MENA has released the shortlist for this year’s Young PR Lions MENA competition to find the best young PR professional in the region. Eight teams have been shortlisted to win the accolade this year and one of them will be heading to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity to take part in the international competition from June 17 – 21, 2018. The shortlisted teams include BPG Cohn & Wolfe, Edelman, Golin MENA, Hill + Knowlton Strategies, Q Communications and Weber Shandwick.

On March 19, the shortlisted teams will be asked to deliver a five minute presentation explaining their PR campaign and the winning team will be announced on March 20.

PRCA MENA announces award winners

Winners of the PRCA MENA Awards have been announced following the conclusion of this year’s awards ceremony on February 21, 2018. Held at the Renaissance Hotel Downtown, the awards focused on recognising and celebrating the best of the best PR and communication campaigns, teams and individuals across the Middle East and North Africa.

Winners included Brazen for Best PR Campaign Media Relations and Small Agency of the Year, Seven Media for Large Agency of the Year and Best PR Campaign Digital, Hill+Knowlton Strategies for Best PR Campaign Business to Consumer, Markettiers for Best PR Campaign Results on a Budget and BPG Cohn & Wolfe for Best PR Campaign Influencer Relations. The awards also honoured Lauren Brush, Senior Communications Consultant at Active DMC for Rising Star of the Year and Lucy O’ Brien, General Manager at FleishmanHillard for PR Leader of the Year.

Blue Apple appoints new PR Director

Blue Apple has appointed Santripti Vellody to the role of PR Director. With 16 years of experience in the media and communications industry, Santripti previously worked with Globosat Entertainment in New York as Marketing and Advertising Manager before moving to Dubai and most recently working with BPG Cohn & Wolfe PR as Associate Director. In her new role, she will be responsible for expanding the PR division at Blue Apple through traditional, digital and experiential PR solutions, while growing its current roster of clients in the PR domain across industry practices.

“I look forward to my new role at Blue Apple and in building the PR business of the agency as well as bringing my experience to the clients at hand,” says Santripti. “The industry has evolved over the last five years and it is vital to remain relevant in an ever-changing market on how we are communicating brand messages. BPG Cohn & Wolfe makes senior appointments

BPG Cohn & Wolfe has made three new appointments following the expansion plan of its corporate and technology practice. Hala Sarieddine has taken on the role of Account Director having previously worked with Weber Shandwick and most recently with Hill+Knowlton Strategies. Also appointed to the role of Account Director is Ajith Henry who has experience in handling financial services clients and previously worked with APCO as well as ASDA’A Burson-Marsteller.

Mara Carpencu joins the team as Associate Account Director having previously worked with Active DMC, where she worked across integrated communications campaigns for international B2B and B2C clients she brings with her experience in communications and events.

In their new role, they will join the senior management team at BPG Cohn & Wolfe and build the current client portfolio of the agency, which includes KPMG, HMD Global – the home of Nokia phones, Booz Allen Hamilton and Omantel. They will also deliver innovative solutions to build, protect and enhance the brand value of the agency’s clients.

Criteo begins operations from new location

Performance marketing technology company Criteo has started operations from its new Dubai offices in Media City, aiming to offer opportunities to a growing local workforce. The company has also welcomed the move of its Managing Director of Emerging Markets, Dirk Henke, from Munich to Dubai – where he will continue to run operations in the MENA region as well as in Turkey and Russia, amongst other markets.

“This is a very exciting time, both personally and professionally,” says Dirk. “Criteo is very eager to tap into the potential of the Middle Eastern markets in the midst of an ongoing e-commerce and m-commerce surge. Ketaki Banga promoted at BPG Cohn & Wolfe

Ketaki Banga has been promoted to the role of Business Director at BPG Cohn & Wolfe. Already leading the corporate, technology and social media teams, Ketaki will now also be responsible for new business for the agency.

“Despite the slowdown there is opportunity, especially in a profession like PR which has evolved to include a far more integrated set of services,” says Ketaki. “There is also a growing awareness of the importance of strategy in the market, as well as an appreciation for the infrastructure and talent that an international agency like ours can bring to the table. I also have to add that I have two very supportive bosses (CEO Nitin Puri and General Manager Kevin Hasler) who just let me get on with things. I’m looking forward to the new role.”
