What’s On Dubai welcomes Layla Haidrani

What’s On Dubai, Part of Motivate Publishing Group, has appointed Layla Haidrani to the role of Features Editor. As the winner of the PPA New Business Journalist Of The Year in 2017, Layla has worked with publications such as Refinery29, Time Out London, Grazia and Cosmopolitan Middle East and most recently worked with the Mayfair Times in the UK where she held the role of Lifestyle Writer. In her new role, she will be working on a variety of features including events, culture, art and travel, as well as contribute to What’s On Abu Dhabi and WhatsOn.ae.

“I’m thrilled to be joining team What’s On, and I can’t wait to get stuck into Dubai life,” says Layla. “I’m excited to join a talented team and seeing what’s new and exciting in the city.”

What’s On launches Good Morning Dubai

What’s On magazine has launched a new daily social media segment called ‘Good Morning Dubai’. Presented by Online Features Editor – Video, Tom Bushell, the content will be available on the publication’s Instagram Stories each morning from Sunday to Thursday and will detail everything an audience needs to know for that day in Dubai including news, new launches, concerts and great offers.

“In the ever-changing way that an audience consumes content, we felt that to have something bite-size in the morning that sets people up for the day would sit nicely in the Dubai market,” says Tom Bushell, Online Features Editor – Video, Motivate Publishing. Little bits of information people can use and be reminded of. The hope is that Good Morning Dubai will become a 60-second must-see watch for anyone looking to be in-the-know each day of the week.”

 

Motivate Publishing hires Tom Bushell

Motivate Publishing has appointed Tom Bushell to the role of Online Features Editor – Video. With a wealth of experience in presenting and reporting, Tom previously worked with Dubai 92 and most recently, as a freelancer for CNN and BT Sport in the UK. In his new role, Tom will be fronting digital content and story telling.

“I’m delighted to have returned to Dubai, a city I have called home for much of the last 10 years,” says Tom. “Motivate Publishing is an iconic feature of the media landscape in the city and the opportunity to join the team and tell great video stories was something I found very difficult to turn away from.”

 

Jennifer Gibson goes freelance

Jennifer Gibson, former Editor of good magazine, part of Motivate Publishing has gone freelance. Having joined Motivate in 2016, Jennifer has over 15 years of experience in journalism and has worked on as well as contributed to a number of titles including VIVA, Hello! Middle East, What’s On Dubai, Emirates Man, Emirates Woman, Jumeirah, The National, The Telegraph and Gulf News. She also worked in broadcasting as News Presenter and Commentator on Dubai 92 as well as Dubai Eye. Following her relocation to the UK, she will continue to work across publications in the UAE and UK as a freelance Editor.

“It has been an honour to edit good magazine since August 2016, to work with an incredible team of brilliant people and to meet so many of the innovators, entrepreneurs, environmental activists and charity campaigners who are doing so much to take community life here in Dubai forward,” says Jennifer. “The time has come for us to make a move to be closer to our families, but I look forward to continuing to work with so many of the brilliant editors and journalists I’ve met during my time here – and to the opportunities my continuing work here will allow for lots of visits to escape the Scottish weather!”

WhatsOn.ae takes on new Online Reporter

WhatsOn.ae, part of Motivate Publishing has appointed Alice Holtham to the role of Online Reporter. A graduate of London College of Fashion with a degree in Fashion Journalism, Alice most recently worked with 4-Front Facilities Management, where she worked on PR and across F&B brands such as The Scene, Jekyll & Hyde and Mr. Miyagi. In her new role, she will join the What’s On Dubai team and be responsible for reporting on an array of Dubai news for WhatsOn.ae as well as be a key point of contact going forward for restaurant and nightlife happenings across the city. She will also work alongside the WhatsOn.ae Features Editor, Deputy Editor and Head of Editorial Content to curate weekly features as well as contribute to the creation of new content on the site.

New Features Editor at NPI Media

NPI Media has appointed Stacey Siebritz to the role of Features Editor. Stacey brings experience from the publishing industry, having previously worked on What’s On Dubai and good magazine, part of Motivate Publishing. In her new role, she will work across NPI’s entire magazine portfolio in both print and digital edition including Concierge, client publications and business titles.

“After nearly five years in Dubai’s publishing industry, I’m looking forward to bringing what I’ve learned to my new role as Features Editor at NPI Media, working across a range of titles,” says Stacey. “I know there are some exciting new developments in the works and I’m thrilled to be a part of that growth.”

Motivate promotes Nyree McFarlane

Previously Online Editor for What’s On Dubai’s digital platform, Nyree will now be responsible for the development and growth of all digital platforms for the publishing house, including whatson.ae, emirateswoman.com and gulfbusiness.com.

good welcomes new Editor

With 13 years of experience in print and broadcast journalism, in the UK as well as in Dubai, Jennifer has previously worked at VIVA and HELLO! Middle East. Most recently she worked as a freelance writer, contributing to titles such as Good Taste, What’s On Dubai, Cyclist Middle East, The National and Gulf News, she has also worked in broadcasting for Dubai 92 and Dubai Eye. In her new role, Jennifer will be responsible for the monthly lifestyle magazine, handling all editorial content including; writing, commissioning and editing features as well as promoting the magazine via social media and radio.

Louise Quick joins Motivate

Louise Quick has joined Motivate as Features Writer. Bringing a range of editorial experience to her new role, Louise has previously worked as Assistant Editor for two trade titles in Dubai, as well as placements at Women’s Health UK and YOU magazine in London. As Features Writer, Louise will focus on the consumer lifestyle division working across titles including What’s On Dubai, Open Skies and Dubai Voyager.

Robert Chilton promoted to Senior Editor

Robert Chilton has been promoted to Senior Editor of What’s On Dubai and What’s On Abu Dhabi. Previously Deputy Editor, Robert will continue to direct the What’s On team, in addition to editing, writing, conducting interviews, reviewing restaurants and maintaining his Thursday morning slot on the Catboy and Geordiebird Breakfast Show on Dubai 92.
