Dubai Eye makes new appointment

Dubai-based radio station, Dubai Eye, part of Arabian Radio Network (ARN) has appointed Robbie Greenfield to the role of Presenter and Senior Producer of radio sports show, Sports Tonight. With over 13 years of publishing experience, Robbie most recently worked as Editor of Golf Digest Middle East, part of Motivate Publishing. In his new role he will host the Sports Tonight show from 7pm – 9pm every weekday, delivering live coverage across all the region’s major sporting events.

“Having worked on Dubai Eye‘s sports output on a freelance basis for the past few years, the opportunity to take a full-time role came at the perfect time,” says Robbie Greenfield. “I’m really excited to hopefully play a part in growing the Sports Tonight brand and bringing sport in the region to life for the station’s listeners.”

Motivate and Motivate Val Morgan hosts UAE Cannes Awards

Motivate and Motivate Val Morgan, the official representatives of Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in the UAE, hosted this year’s Cannes Lions Awards in the Motivate offices located in Dubai Media City. The awards were presented by Ian Fairservice, Managing Partner and Group Editor in Chief at Motivate as well as Avinash Udeshi, Chief Operating Officer at Motivate Val Morgan. This year’s winning agencies included; Memac Oligvy Dubai, Y&R Dubai and The Classic Partnership Advertising Dubai.

“Over the years, media and creative agencies have worked hard to bring home more and more awards across a range of categories at the Cannes Lions Festival in France,” says Ian Fairservice, Managing Partner and Group Editor, Motivate. As the official representative of the festival in the UAE, we would like to commend this year’s winning agencies and we look forward to see many more wins at next year’s festival.”

Shortlist for Young PR Lions MENA announced

PRCA MENA has released the shortlist for the Young PR Lions MENA competition to find the best young PR professionals in the Middle East and North Africa. Eight teams have been shortlisted to win the accolade this year and one of them will be heading to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity to take part in the international competition on June 19, 2016. The shortlisted teams of two PR agency professionals aged 30 or under are from; Memac Ogilvy, MCS Action, Edelman, Grayling META, Golin MENA, H&K Strategies, Memac Ogilvy and Weber Shandwick.

On May 17, the shortlisted teams will be asked to deliver a five minute presentation explaining their PR campaign at Motivate, located in Media One, Dubai and the winning MENA team will be announced on May 19.

 

GN Publishing welcomes Kerri Bennett

GN Publishing has welcomed Kerri Bennett to the role of Art Editor. Having previously worked in London for companies such as EMAP and Northern and Shell, Kerri has been in the UAE for 6 years where she has worked at ITP Publishing, NPI Media and, most recently, Motivate Publishing as Art Editor across various publications. In her new role, Kerri will be working on GN Publishing’s Contract Publishing division, as well as launching new fashion titles CitizenK Arabia and CitizenK Homme Arabia.

“It’s great to be part of a growing, successful company that invests in people,” says Kerri. “I’m excited for the future and the new projects I’ll be working on within the Contract Publishing division.”

 

Changes to the Motivate team

Changes have been made to the Motivate team in the form of a new joiner and in-house promotion. Craig Wagstaff has been appointed as Group Sales Director, joining the team from Astro Malaysia Holdings where he was Vice President and Group General Manager of Sales for eight years. Having worked across a range of media, Craig will bring his international experience to the running of the day-to-day sales activity of Motivate’s magazine division.

Anthony Milne, previous General Manager of Group Sales and Marketing at Motivate, has now been appointed Chief Commercial Officer. In his new role, Anthony will focus on key areas of strategic development for Motivate while retaining responsibility for the Marketing and Events functions.

Louise Quick joins Motivate

Louise Quick has joined Motivate as Features Writer. Bringing a range of editorial experience to her new role, Louise has previously worked as Assistant Editor for two trade titles in Dubai, as well as placements at Women’s Health UK and YOU magazine in London. As Features Writer, Louise will focus on the consumer lifestyle division working across titles including What’s On Dubai, Open Skies and Dubai Voyager.

“Motivate is such a well-known and respected company and to be working on these fantastic magazines is really exciting for me,” says Louise. “I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and developing my career with the company.”

Alexandra Bull steps down at Motivate Publishing

Alexandra Bull is moving on from her position as Picture Editor for Emirates Woman Group. A part of the team since 2013, Alexandra has managed the picture desk across various titles including Emirates Woman, Emirates Bride and Emirates Woman Mini, as well as producing content for emirateswoman.com. She now returns to Cape Town in South Africa, where she will work in custom publishing in an expanded role as Picture Editor and Designer working across print and digital.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure to work here at Motivate,” says Alexandra. “It’s a company which carries so much clout in the industry but still feels like a big family – one that I am definitely going to miss.”

Ankush Chibber joins Gulf Business

Ankush Chibber has joined Motivate Publishing as Editor of Gulf Business. Ankush was previously based in India, where he was Executive Editor for Entrepreneur Magazine, and in his new role he will be breaking Middle East business and finance news.

“I feel privileged to have joined an amazing team of journalists at Gulf Business,” says Ankush. “It’s an exciting time to be in the region and we as a team are aiming to further grow the magazine’s readership here as well as expand its digital presence.”

Alicia Buller to leave Motivate

Alicia Buller has announced that she will be stepping down as Editor of Gulf Business as of April 30, 2014. With over 10 years of journalism experience specialising in Middle Eastern business, Alicia is now accepting work as a freelance writer and editor. Her portfolio includes both business and consumer titles, such as Arabian Business, Revolution, Campaign and Mail Online.

“I have enjoyed my time at Motivate, it was exciting and challenging to launch www.gulfbusiness.com,” says Alicia. “I look forward to working on a wide range of projects within the UAE and beyond; with so much happening in Dubai right now, there’s certainly a lot to be writing about!”

Deep Karani joins Motivate

Deep Karani has joined the Motivate team as Sales Manager for Open Skies magazine. In his previous position, Deep was Head of Business Development at SourceGulf.com, a B2B platform for the Middle East industrial sector. Deep’s new role will consist of collaborating with the Open Skies team to continue magazine growth, with Deep being primarily responsible for generating revenue through advertising sales.

“After over five years of working for B2B publications in the UAE, I believe Open Skies has presented itself as the perfect channel for me to explore the other side of the media industry,” says Deep. “I am extremely excited to be a part of Motivate, and I am confident this opportunity will add to my career growth and personal development.”
