Motivate Publishing appoints new Publishing Director

Motivate Publishing has appointed Carlos Pedroza Luna to the role of Publishing Director of its luxury media division starting September 2017. With 18 years of experience in consumer magazines, custom publishing and sales strategies, Carlos previously worked in Mexico as Publishing Director at Editorial Televista in partnership with media company, Hearst, where he worked across several titles including, Esquire, Harper’s Bazaar and Men’s Health. He most recently worked with Groupo Tourbillon also as Publishing Director in Mexico, where he oversaw the development of Tiempo de Relojes and Gentleman magazines. In his new role, he will oversee the development of Motivate’s luxury brands including Emirates Woman, Emirates Man and Jumeirah Magazine as well as new projects to be launched within the sector.

WhatsOn.ae takes on new Online Reporter

WhatsOn.ae, part of Motivate Publishing has appointed Alice Holtham to the role of Online Reporter. A graduate of London College of Fashion with a degree in Fashion Journalism, Alice most recently worked with 4-Front Facilities Management, where she worked on PR and across F&B brands such as The Scene, Jekyll & Hyde and Mr. Miyagi. In her new role, she will join the What’s On Dubai team and be responsible for reporting on an array of Dubai news for WhatsOn.ae as well as be a key point of contact going forward for restaurant and nightlife happenings across the city. She will also work alongside the WhatsOn.ae Features Editor, Deputy Editor and Head of Editorial Content to curate weekly features as well as contribute to the creation of new content on the site.

Alexandria Gouveia joins Vogue Arabia

Vogue Arabia has appointed Alexandria Gouveia to the role of Managing Editor. With over 13 years of experience in print and digital media across the UK and UAE, Alexandria previously worked with Emirates Woman, part of Motivate Publishing and most recently with Stylist Arabia, part of APP Media Group. In her new role, she will join Vogue Arabia’s editorial team and work across the magazine’s editorial content as well as help build the brand in the region.

“I’m extremely excited about the prospect of working on the most famous brand in the world, alongside a team that contains some of the most talented journalists and stylists in the Middle East,” says Alexandria.

New Features Editor at NPI Media

NPI Media has appointed Stacey Siebritz to the role of Features Editor. Stacey brings experience from the publishing industry, having previously worked on What’s On Dubai and good magazine, part of Motivate Publishing. In her new role, she will work across NPI’s entire magazine portfolio in both print and digital edition including Concierge, client publications and business titles.

“After nearly five years in Dubai’s publishing industry, I’m looking forward to bringing what I’ve learned to my new role as Features Editor at NPI Media, working across a range of titles,” says Stacey. “I know there are some exciting new developments in the works and I’m thrilled to be a part of that growth.”

FourFourTwo Arabia welcomes new Editor

Newly launched football magazine, FourFourTwo Arabia has appointed Ali Khaled to the role of Editor. Ali previously worked with 7DAYS as Managing Editor and with The National as Senior Sports Columnist after which he most recently worked as a freelance writer. In his new role, he will oversee the editorial content of FourFourTwo Arabia and develop an engaging digital presence as well as concise content strategies for the growth of the magazine across the region.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to edit FourFourTwo Arabia, and look forward to reaching a wide football audience in the Middle East and beyond,” says Ali. “There is a real opportunity to produce strong stories from the Middle East in a fresh, modern way, as well as continuing to cover the global game in the way that the FourFourTwo brand has become known for.”

FourFourTwo Arabia launches in the region

International football magazine FourFourTwo launches in the UAE as fourfourtwoarabia.com. Published by Motivate Publishing, fourfourtwoarabia.com will be available in English and Arabic to offer football lovers across the Middle East insightful analysis and access to the biggest games, as well as advice on playing better and witty coverage of football matches.

Alexandra Venison joins Vogue Arabia

Following the appointment of Manuel Arnaut as Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Arabia, the title has welcomed Alexandra Venison to the editorial team as Beauty Editor. Having worked across fashion and beauty titles including Emirates Woman at Motivate Publishing and VIVA and Harper’s Bazaar Arabia at ITP Media Group, Alexandra will head up all beauty content in her new role.

Saatchi & Saatchi Dubai wins Young Lions Print Competition

Motivate and Motivate Val Morgan has announced this year’s winners of the UAE Young Lions Print Competition held on May 1 at In5 Media Innovation Centre. This year’s competition saw 17 participating teams and named Sarah Guessoum and Anika Marya from Saatchi & Saatchi Dubai as gold winners, while Leo Burnett came in second and TBWA/RAAD came in third. Sarah and Anika will move on to represent the region at the International Young Lions Print Competition to be held in Cannes, France from June 17 – 24, 2017 following their win.

Farooq Salik goes freelance

Farooq Salik, former Senior Photographer and Studio Manager at Motivate Publishing has gone freelance. Having joined Motivate Publishing in 2005, Farooq has over 15 years of experience and has worked across a number of consumer and customer publications including Hello!, Emirates Woman, What’s On, Golf Digest, Emirates Man, Dubai Voyager, good, Gulf Business and Campaign. He will continue to work as a professional photographer for studio, on location and for events as well as offer creative social media content and services.

“I had a fantastic time working at Motivate, but I felt like the time was right to move on and make use of the experience I gained from working for a period of over 11 years at Motivate,” says Farooq. “I’m really excited about taking this next step and seeing what challenges lie ahead. I want to establish a reliable and efficient image and work as a social media content provider in the market which I feel is very rare here in Dubai.”

Matt Fortune joins Jumeriah

Dubai-based luxury brand Jumeirah has appointed Matt Fortune to the role of Cluster Social Media Manager. With over ten years of experience, Matt previously worked with Motivate Publishing as Web Editor for What’s On magazine and most recently with ITP Media Group as Head of Digital Content for Time Out magazine. In his new role, he will lead the content and social strategy for hotels and restaurants in the brand’s Dubai.
