Online sustainable lifestyle magazine goes live

The first digital eco and sustainable magazine in the Middle East, theethicalist.com launches. Founded by Anthea Ayache, she brings with her a diverse background in journalism, having previously worked at Friday magazine part of Gulf News as Senior Features Writer and most recently with its radios stations Radio 1 and Radio 2 as Radio Presenter.

Theethicalist.com offers content from around the world ranging from the latest news, zeitgeist reports, exclusive interviews with eco heroes and a focus on social businesses that have positively impacted the environment with an aim to engage, inspire and enhance the lives of readers across the UAE. The online magazine will also include lifestyle features on fashion, beauty, food and travel with an eco and philanthropic twist that is accessible by readers and an option to subscribe to receive newsletters, discounts and tailored information.

The new launch will also see the appointment of Karen Pasquali Jones to the role of Managing Editor, having worked in the UK with Love It! magazine, part of News UK and Sky magazine before moving to the UAE and most recently working with Friday magazine as Editor. In her new role, she will contribute and manage the editorial content of the online magazine.

Friday welcomes new Editor

GN Media’s flagship weekly, Friday magazine has appointed Natalie Long to the role of Editor. Previously the Editor of tabloid!, Natalie has 10 years of experience in celebrity news, fashion, food, travel, arts and culture. In her new role, she will be overseeing the magazine’s content for print and digital platforms.

Judy Cogan joins ShortList UAE

Judy Cogan, former Lifestyle Editor for Friday magazine, has joined ShortList in the UAE as Deputy Editor. Judy has 10 years of writing experience, as well as a BA Hons in Journalism. As Deputy Editor, she will be supporting ShortList Editor-in-Chief, Eddie Taylor to produce the mass circulation weekly title ShortList in the UAE which is published by Arab Publishing Partners, part of ITP Publishing.

Savoir Flair to welcome new Beauty Editor

Frankie Rozwadowska will join Savoir Flair from March 29, 2015 as Beauty Editor, following her previous role as Group Beauty Editor at Gulf News Magazines. Having lived in London prior to moving to Dubai, Frankie has previous experience writing in-depth beauty features as Beauty Editor for fashion-focused, luxury magazine 1883 as well as for online wellness magazine Hip & Healthy. At Gulf News Mazagines, Frankie worked across various titles including AquariusFriday and Alpha.

Judy Cogan made Lifestyle Editor of Friday magazine

Judy Cogan has been appointed as Lifestyle Editor of Gulf News Magazines’ flagship title, Friday. Having been in the position of Acting Lifestyle Editor since April of this year, Judy takes over from Tabitha Barda and will be in charge of Friday’s fashion, beauty, health, travel, food and review pages.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining the number one magazine in the UAE,” says Judy. “Food, health, fashion and travel are all incredibly popular pages within Friday and I hope to make them even more compelling. I’m more than ready for this new and unique challenge and I’m thrilled to be given this opportunity. I’m looking forward to working with you all!”

Judy Cogan joins Friday magazine

Judy Cogan has joined the Friday magazine team as Acting Lifestyle Editor. Judy previously worked freelance for publications including MailOnline, Grazia UK and Middle East, LOOK magazine, Closer, Fabulous and Woman’s Own; prior to this she was Features Editor for the newspaper supplement of The Sunday People, as well as Senior Writer for Sun Woman, the women’s section of The Sun newspaper and The Sun online in the UK. In her new position as Acting Lifestyle Editor, which extends to September 2014, Judy will edit and commission features across health, fashion, food, books, well-being, entertainment and travel, as well as in-house reviews and tried and tested features.

“To be given this opportunity to work as Acting Lifestyle Editor for Friday and in a vibrant, ever changing city like Dubai is extremely exciting,” says Judy. “I’m keen to embrace my new role and the city whole heartedly and fill Friday’s lifestyle pages with innovative, interesting, never read before features. Frankie Rozwadowska joins Gulf News

Frankie Rozwadowska has joined the Gulf News team as Group Beauty Editor. Previously based in London, Frankie was Beauty Editor for fashion-focused, luxury magazine 1883, and Beauty Editor for online wellness magazine Hip and Healthy. In her new position, she will be working across the AquariusFriday, and Alpha magazines.
“I am delighted to be party of the beauty team at Gulf News, working across a range of exciting and unique titles that enjoy the diverse readership Dubai has to offer,” says Frankie. “I am excited to discover new beauty brands and to explore the possibilities of the region, as well as embarking on a new adventure here in the Middle east.
