Sharjah Media Corporation launches first English language radio station

Sharjah Media Corporation has launched the first English language radio station, Pulse 95 in Sharjah. Pulse 95 will focus on presenting a mix of local and international news, interviews, features, chart-topping hits and popular music in acoustic format.

The new station will also feature three main daily live shows and will see the appointment of a new team of presenters. Omar Al Busaidy, who most recently worked with AbuDhabi Tourism Authority, Sara Al Madani who previously worked with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Sally Mousa, who was previously a Presenter for Dubai Today will be presenting ‘The Morning Majlis’ from 7am – 10am. Anna Roberts having previously worked at Dubai 92 and Virgin Radio will host ‘Musafir in the City’ from 4pm – 5pm. Hassan Dennaoui also known as Big Hass and Ana Schofield who most recently worked with Dubai 92 will present ‘Yalla Home’ from 5pm – 8pm.

“We have ensured that every aspect of the content is consistent and the introduction of the acoustic music element follows that perfectly, being complementary rather than intrusive,” says Mohammad Yanez, Head of Pulse 95. “Our goal is to be a totally inclusive, fun, trusted, feel-good station, bringing the listeners positive upbeat stories of real people. We are the first English station in Sharjah, but we are not aiming purely at listeners who are native English speakers. Pulse 95 is still very much an option for people who understand English and still enjoy the format and content of the shows even though it may not be their first language.”

What’s On launches Good Morning Dubai

What’s On magazine has launched a new daily social media segment called ‘Good Morning Dubai’. Presented by Online Features Editor – Video, Tom Bushell, the content will be available on the publication’s Instagram Stories each morning from Sunday to Thursday and will detail everything an audience needs to know for that day in Dubai including news, new launches, concerts and great offers.

“In the ever-changing way that an audience consumes content, we felt that to have something bite-size in the morning that sets people up for the day would sit nicely in the Dubai market,” says Tom Bushell, Online Features Editor – Video, Motivate Publishing. Little bits of information people can use and be reminded of. The hope is that Good Morning Dubai will become a 60-second must-see watch for anyone looking to be in-the-know each day of the week.”

 

Motivate Publishing hires Tom Bushell

Motivate Publishing has appointed Tom Bushell to the role of Online Features Editor – Video. With a wealth of experience in presenting and reporting, Tom previously worked with Dubai 92 and most recently, as a freelancer for CNN and BT Sport in the UK. In his new role, Tom will be fronting digital content and story telling.

“I’m delighted to have returned to Dubai, a city I have called home for much of the last 10 years,” says Tom. “Motivate Publishing is an iconic feature of the media landscape in the city and the opportunity to join the team and tell great video stories was something I found very difficult to turn away from.”

 

Jennifer Gibson goes freelance

Jennifer Gibson, former Editor of good magazine, part of Motivate Publishing has gone freelance. Having joined Motivate in 2016, Jennifer has over 15 years of experience in journalism and has worked on as well as contributed to a number of titles including VIVA, Hello! Middle East, What’s On Dubai, Emirates Man, Emirates Woman, Jumeirah, The National, The Telegraph and Gulf News. She also worked in broadcasting as News Presenter and Commentator on Dubai 92 as well as Dubai Eye. Following her relocation to the UK, she will continue to work across publications in the UAE and UK as a freelance Editor.

“It has been an honour to edit good magazine since August 2016, to work with an incredible team of brilliant people and to meet so many of the innovators, entrepreneurs, environmental activists and charity campaigners who are doing so much to take community life here in Dubai forward,” says Jennifer. “The time has come for us to make a move to be closer to our families, but I look forward to continuing to work with so many of the brilliant editors and journalists I’ve met during my time here – and to the opportunities my continuing work here will allow for lots of visits to escape the Scottish weather!”

good welcomes new Editor

 good magazine, part of Motivate Publishing, has welcomed Jennifer Gibson to the role of Editor. With 13 years of experience in print and broadcast journalism, in the UK as well as in Dubai, Jennifer has previously worked at VIVA and HELLO! Middle East. Most recently she worked as a freelance writer, contributing to titles such as Good Taste, What’s On Dubai, Cyclist Middle East, The National and Gulf News, she has also worked in broadcasting for Dubai 92 and Dubai Eye. In her new role, Jennifer will be responsible for the monthly lifestyle magazine, handling all editorial content including; writing, commissioning and editing features as well as promoting the magazine via social media and radio.

“I’m delighted to be joining Motivate as Editor of good and am looking forward to working more with the fantastic team here,” says Jennifer. “I’ve lived in Dubai for nearly five years now and have watched the city grow and evolve dramatically during that time, so I’m very excited about getting out there and seeing what’s new, exciting and homegrown in our city.”

Aylissa joins the Dubai 92 Breakfast Show

Aylissa Boyce will join the Dubai 92 Breakfast Show alongside long-running presenter Catboy, upon his return to the radio show on 12 April 2015. The show will retain all of its listener’s favourite segments from the previous Breakfast show lineup, as well as some new features courtesy of its new co-presenter.

Aylissa has joined Dubai 92 from Aberdeen, Scotland where she hosted Northsound 1’s Breakfast show, and presented its Showbiz and Football show every Saturday.

“I’m incredibly excited to be in the UAE,” says Aylissa. “Dubai 92 is a great station with a really strong listener base and I can’t wait to join the amazing team there, this is an exciting new challenge for me and I’m looking forward to giving it my all.”

Geordiebird to leave Dubai 92 breakfast show

Following nine years as a co-presenter on the Catboy and Geordiebird Breakfast show, Geordiebird, known off-air as Stef Burgon, announces that she will broadcast her last breakfast show this Thursday. Stef is also known for her regular ‘Girl About Town’ feature in What’s On magazine, and has been in Ahlan’s Hot 100 list every year since moving to the UAE in 2006.

Stef’s new role will be with Dubai Eye 103.8, sister network to Dubai 92, where she will be co-presenting The Travel Show (The Ticket), with Mark Lloyd every weekday from 2pm – 4pm.

“I’m looking forward to not having to get up so early, after doing this for the last nine years,” says Stef. “I can’t wait for this amazing new challenge on The Ticket with Mark Lloyd on Dubai Eye 103.8!”
