What’s On Dubai welcomes Layla Haidrani 

What’s On Dubai, Part of Motivate Publishing Group, has appointed Layla Haidrani to the role of Features Editor. As the winner of the PPA New Business Journalist Of The Year in 2017, Layla has worked with publications such as Refinery29, Time Out London, Grazia and Cosmopolitan Middle East and most recently worked with the Mayfair Times in the UK where she held the role of Lifestyle Writer. In her new role, she will be working on a variety of features including events, culture, art and travel, as well as contribute to What’s On Abu Dhabi and WhatsOn.ae.

“I’m thrilled to be joining team What’s On, and I can’t wait to get stuck into Dubai life,” says Layla. “I’m excited to join a talented team and seeing what’s new and exciting in the city.”

Cosmopolitan ME officially appoints Kavita Srinivasan

Having joined Cosmopolitan Middle East in February 2017 as Acting Editor-in-Chief, Kavita Srinivasan has now officially been appointed to the role of Editor-in-Chief. Kavita previously worked with Hello! Indo-Arabia as Editor-in-Chief and will now continue to hold the reins at Cosmopolitan Middle East and oversee all editorial content for the publication.

Chee Smith launches portfolio website

Dubai-based fashion stylist, Chee Smith has launched cheesmithfashionstylist.com to support her new freelance fashion styling career. With over 20 years of experience in the beauty and fashion industry, Chee previously worked with VIVA magazine and most recently with Cosmopolitan Middle East as Fashion and Beauty Director. Her new website will feature her styling work across the categories of fashion, beauty, celebrities and still-life shoots to showcase her work to potential clients in the Middle East and across the World.

“I’m super excited to finally launch my website and have a digital platform where I can showcase my work both here in the Middle East and to the rest of the world,” says Chee.

Chee Smith goes freelance

Chee Smith, former Fashion and Beauty Director at Cosmopolitan Middle East, has gone freelance. With over 20 years of experience in the fashion and beauty industry, Chee previously worked at VIVA magazine as the Fashion and Beauty Director before joining the Cosmopolitan Middle East launch team in February, 2011. She will continue to work across the fashion and beauty sector as a freelance fashion stylist and editor.

“Although I’m sad to leave Cosmopolitan Middle East, I’m really excited to go freelance and work on new projects,” says Chee. “I’m looking forward to new challenges and working on a variety of jobs within editorial, advertising and events.”

New appointment at ITP Publishing Group

Dubai-based publishing house, ITP Publishing Group welcomes Widad Naami to the role of Senior Digital Commercial Manager. Previously Business Development Manager at digitalCUPS and Head of Business Development and Sales at Buro 24/7 ME, Widad has over 10 years of experience in the region’s media and publishing industry. In her new role, Widad will be responsible for the commercial development of all Hearst’s online titles under ITP Publishing Group, which includes the Middle East editions of Cosmopolitan and Harper’s Bazaar and Men’s Health as well as Women’s Health.

Surena Chande to leave Hospitality Business Middle East

Former Deputy Editor of Hospitality Business Middle East Surena Chande has made the move to freelance journalism and blogging. With over three years of experience, Surena has worked on publications including Ahlan!, Cosmopolitan Middle East, Good Taste, La Femme and BBC Good Food Middle East. She will now be working on digital media and print for both consumer and trade publications, as well as blogging on lifestyle, fashion, beauty and travel at www.surenasays.com.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at CPI Media Group on great publications,” says Surena. “However, I’m now looking forward to diversifying across a selection of titles and brands, both in the region and internationally, as well as focussing on my blog that has been somewhat neglected while working full-time.”

 

ITP welcomes new Sales Manager

Anneka Healy has joined ITP Publishing as Sales Manager for Cosmopolitan Middle East. Formerly Senior Sales Executive for the Emirates Woman Group at Motivate Publishing, Anneka has over two years of media experience which she will bring to her new role. As Sales Manager, she will be responsible for all sponsorship and advertising revenue as well developing client relationships for the monthly women’s lifestyle publication.

Cosmopolitan Middle East welcomes new Editor

Cosmopolitan Middle East’s Brooke Sever has been promoted to the position of Editor of the lifestyle publication, where she previously held the Deputy Editor role. Bringing extensive editorial experience to her new position, Brooke has been a part of the ITP Publishing team for the past four years, first as Editor for Sound & Stage magazine and then as Features Editor for Ahlan!, before moving on to Cosmopolitan Middle East.
