What’s On launches Good Morning Dubai

What’s On magazine has launched a new daily social media segment called ‘Good Morning Dubai’. Presented by Online Features Editor – Video, Tom Bushell, the content will be available on the publication’s Instagram Stories each morning from Sunday to Thursday and will detail everything an audience needs to know for that day in Dubai including news, new launches, concerts and great offers.

“In the ever-changing way that an audience consumes content, we felt that to have something bite-size in the morning that sets people up for the day would sit nicely in the Dubai market,” says Tom Bushell, Online Features Editor – Video, Motivate Publishing. Little bits of information people can use and be reminded of. The hope is that Good Morning Dubai will become a 60-second must-see watch for anyone looking to be in-the-know each day of the week.”

 

Motivate Publishing hires Tom Bushell

Motivate Publishing has appointed Tom Bushell to the role of Online Features Editor – Video. With a wealth of experience in presenting and reporting, Tom previously worked with Dubai 92 and most recently, as a freelancer for CNN and BT Sport in the UK. In his new role, Tom will be fronting digital content and story telling.

“I’m delighted to have returned to Dubai, a city I have called home for much of the last 10 years,” says Tom. “Motivate Publishing is an iconic feature of the media landscape in the city and the opportunity to join the team and tell great video stories was something I found very difficult to turn away from.”

 

Sam Kiley joins CNN

CNN Abu Dhabi has welcomed Sam Kiley to the role of Senior International Correspondent. Sam previously worked with BBC, FRONTLINE – part of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and most recently Sky News. In his new role, he will join the international news team and report to the news desk with breaking news from across the region.

CNN is the world’s most watched news network with an unmatched presence on every major global story,” says Sam. “I have grown up as a journalist alongside CNN teams from Somalia to Sarajevo and Mosul. I have always admired them and am proud to be joining my friends at the network at this exciting and unpredictable, time.”

New Snapchat show launched by CNN

CNN has launched new Snapchat show, The Update globally. The new daily show will provide a rundown of the biggest news from CNN’s anchors, correspondents and reporters from around the world to be published throughout each day and time zone as well as feature rolling updates as breaking news segments. The show will be featured on Snapchat’s shows section and would be accessible by Snapchat users and subscribers of The Update.

“In today’s news environment, people are hungry for news and they want a quick update of where things are at within one tap of their phone,” says Samantha Barry, Executive Producer for Social and Emerging Media, CNN. “So, we’re serving that up, speaking their language and delivering it in beautiful, vertical, mobile friendly video.”

CNN launches VR platform

CNN has launched new virtual reality platform, CNNVR. A journalism unit and platform within CNN Digital, CNNVR will cover major news events in a 360 video, transport users to the front row of global events through VR live streams and produce weekly VR experiences. The new platform will be overseen by Jason Farkas, Vice President of Premium Content Video and will see Dubai become among the first cities to have trained VR producers and access to CNNVR through mobile phones, desktops and VR headsets.

New Contributing Columnist at Arab News

John Defterios joins Arab News as a contributing Columnist for the newspaper’s print and digital platforms. With over 36 years of experience in Journalism, John currently works with CNN as Editor and Anchor of CNNMoney Emerging Markets, as well as hosts the Marketplace Middle East show. Arab News will now feature John’s content on Middle East markets and businesses as well as exclusive reports and interviews from Marketplace Middle East.

CNN launches new forum

CNN hosts its first Middle East Business Forum this week at the Four Seasons, Abu Dhabi. The theme for the forum was Beyond Oil in the Changing World with over 350 members in attendance and started out with keynote speeches by former President of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso and Mubadala’s Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, H.E Khaldoon Al Mubarak. The forum served as a platform for discussions among key influencers in the Middle East in the field of business and will be aired on CNN International on December 9, 2016.

CNN launches Native 2.4

Blathnaid Healy joins CNN

Blathnaid Healy has joined CNN Digital Worldwide as Senior Editor in its London newsroom. Blathnaid joins CNN from Mashable, where she established the company’s first London office and built an editorial team that developed a multimedia editorial agenda and voice across all platforms. At CNN, she will oversee the network’s EMEA-based digital news team and its output. Blathnaid will be responsible for the commissioning and production of news content, focusing particularly on mobile and video. She will also work closely with CNN’s Atlanta, New York, Dubai and Hong Kong operations to build on and enhance the network’s ‘follow-the-sun’ editorial strategy, integrating closely with CNN’s broader newsgathering teams across all platforms.

CNN named number one international news channel

CNN International is the number one international news channel in daily, weekly and monthly reach, according to the Ipsos Affluent Survey Middle East. The independent industry research study shows that the CNN International TV channel reaches 20% of the Middle East’s elite population every month and this reach increases to 28% when CNN International‘s digital properties are added to the scale of linear TV.
