InsideOut Awards winners revealed

UAE-based homes and interiors magazines InsideOut, part of Gulf News Publishing, revealed the winners of its second reader awards at a gala dinner held on Sunday, May 14 at the Music Hall, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray. Over eight weeks, 18,421 individual reader’s votes were cast over 12 categories and winners this year included; Four Seasons Ramesh Gallery, Rattan House, Home Centre and Dubai Garden Centre. This year’s Editor’s Choice Award was presented to RAK Ceramics, in recognition of the UAE company’s successes in the region as well as on a global scale.

“These awards were established to give our readers – the industry’s customers – a voice,” says Sharon Parsons, Editor, InsideOut. “We know from the solid relationship that we have with them just how passionate, discerning and smart they are when it comes to their homes. This knowledge has allowed us to refine the awards this year, introducing new categories to reflect how and where our readers shop. The fantastic results speak for themselves.”

 

 

BBC Good Food ME winners announced

The sixth annual BBC Good Food Middle East Awards 2015 took place on Monday, February 15, 2016 at the Habtoor Grand Beach Resort and Spa, Dubai Marina. With over 350 people from the industry in attendance, the awards were voted for by consumers and recognised restaurants and culinary brands across a range of categories, with winners including Ripe Market for Favourite Health Food Store/Market, Samantha Wood of Foodiva for Best Food Blogger and Marina Social for Best New Restaurant – Dubai.

“Our awards are all about celebrating the best in food from across the region and recognising the tremendous growth seen in the Middle East’s F&B sector over the past year,” says Sophie McCarrick, Editor, BBC Good Food Middle East. “I’d like to congratulate not only the winners, but also all of our finalists, for making the event a great success! FIPP MENA announces next month’s programme

FIPP MENA which will be taking place February 10 – 11, 2016, at the Habtoor Grand Beach Resort in Dubai has announced the programme as well as key speakers. The event’s programme brings together international, regional and local speakers from inside the magazine media and related industries, who will provide delegates with a view on key developments and trends globally and in the MENA region specifically.

Dubai Lynx names 2016 jury

 The Dubai Lynx International Festival of Creativity has named the 56 international jurors set to judge entries from across the Middle East and North Africa region at the 10th Dubai Lynx. The panel includes; Daniel Andrade, Group Creative Director, EMEA, The Zoo, Google, EMEA; Russel Place, Managing Director, UM, UK and Nick Emery, Global CEO, Mindshare, Global and will convene to appraise over 2,000 entries and determine winners of the coveted Lynx trophies, which will be presented at an awards ceremony on March 9, 2016.

Crème de la Creme Awards winners announced

The first ever Crème de la Crème magazine Luxury Awards have been held at Turtle Beach, Shangri-La Al Jissah Resort and Spa in Oman. Presented by Mercedes-Benz, the awards honoured luxury brands across nine different categories including Best Fashion Label Powered By Mercedes-Benz, Best Jewellery and Best Hotel. Nominees were evaluated by well-known names in the Sultanate and winners included Amouage and Patek Philippe.

The ULTRAs launched

Ultratravel magazine, a UAE-based publication focusing on regional and international luxury travel destinations, has launched the Ultimate Luxury Travel Related Awards (The ULTRAs). With 20 categories including: airlines, airports, hotels, travel agencies and services, as well as specialised categories across UAE hospitality and tourism sectors, Ultratravel will determine one winner and four runners-up per category, culminating in the Ultratravel 100 list.

Winners will be announced at the Ultratravel 100 Awards, hosted in the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah on November 25, 2015. They will also be published in the Winter 2015 issue of Ultratravel, available from November 26 and distributed by The National and Aletihad newspapers. Voting for the awards is currently open to the public until October 31, and readers can vote online at www.thenational.ae/ultras.

 

AAM to honour Noura Al Kaabi

American Abroad Media (AAM) will honour Noura Al Kaabi, CEO, twofour54, at an awards dinner in Washington later this month in recognition of her role in leading the UAE’s growing media industry. This will be the third annual “Power of Film” awards dinner at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C., held to honour those whose work exemplifies the power of media to inform, educate and empower citizens about the critical social and public policy issues of our time.

“We are truly delighted to be honouring Noura Al Kaabi, a dynamic and outstanding leader,” says Aaron Lobel, Founder and President, American Abroad Media. “Her enormous contribution to the success of the media sector in Abu Dhabi, as well as her personality and leadership style, is an inspiration to young people in the UAE and across the Middle East and is an honorable reflection of the values of her country.”

Sky News Arabia nominated for AIB Awards

The London-based Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) has nominated two documentaries submitted by Sky News Arabia for it’s annual awards. The 11th edition of The AIB Awards will recognise content that reflects current social issues and are presented across television, radio and online platforms. The jury panel for the AIB Awards includes over 40 notable personalities from the media sector, including Producers, Editors, Journalists and Critics from around the world.

This is the first year that Sky News Arabia has competed in the awards, with it’s documentaries Death Boats: The Migration Dream and Smuggling Nightmare and Religious Diversity in Iraq: The Yazidis being nominated in the Domestic Current Affairs Documentary and International Investigative Documentary categories respectively.  Winners of the awards will be announced on November 4, 2015 as part of a special ceremony in London for an audience of Arab and international media representatives.

 

Effie MENA Awards announces 2015 jury panel

The Effie MENA Awards 2015 is set to launch on November 18, 2015 at the Pavilion, Armani Hotel in Dubai. The seventh edition of the awards will be judged by a panel including a total of 13 international, as well as 90 regional judges, all at a senior corporate level from a variety of industry sectors such as publishing, luxury retail and banking. The panel will be judging entries to celebrate and reward creativity in marketing.

Members of the 2015 judging panel include Ian Armstrong, Advertising General Manager, Jaguar Land Rover – London;  Christopher Saldana, Director Marketing Services EEMEA, Mondelez Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa and Vikram Krishna, Head Group Marketing and Customer Experience, Emirates NBD. The final deadline for submission to this year’s awards is September 27, 2015 and previous winners in the scheme include Nissan Middle East, Henkel, PEPSICO and Red Bull.

ShortList launches Creative Cover Wrap competition

To celebrate ShortList’s print launch in the UAE, the magazine is running an inter-agency competition to win a full cover wrap and a website home page takeover for one agency to win on behalf of a client. The cover wrap design deemed to best speak to ShortList readers – males and females aged between 20 and 45 – will be used on the ShortList issue scheduled for release on September 29, 2015.
