Further media closures across the UAE

Following the recent announcement that local newspaper 7days will cease operations this month, more print titles have declared closure by the end of 2016. Falling under the umbrella of the ITP Publishing Group, homegrown women’s monthly, Viva will discontinue operations after more than 11 years in publication, with their final issue on news stands now. In addition, Arab Publishing Partners’ quarterly titles Hello! Arabia and Hello! Indo Arabia have ceased publishing.

Stylist Arabia welcomes new Editor

Stylist Arabia, part of Arab Publishing Partners (APP), has appointed Alexandria Gouveia to the role of Editor. With over ten years of experience in print and digital media, in her new role she will oversee all editorial content, interviews and features for the monthly publication.

Condé Nast Traveller Middle East website launches

Condé Nast Traveller Middle East, an Arab Publishing Partners (APP) publication, has launched Aiming to be the ultimate online destination for all things travel, the new website features a daily edit of stories, guides and tips on destinations across the globe, as well as new image galleries, expert opinions, news and special video content.

Voting for Condé Nast Traveller awards opens

Voting has opened for the annual Condé Nast Traveller Middle East Readers’ Choice Awards, hosted by Condé Nast Traveller Middle East, an Arab Publishing Partners (APP) publication. This year, the awards look to determine the future of luxury travel, with 20 categories including; Favourite Fashion-forward Destination, Favourite Secret Beach Destination and Favourite Tech-savvy Hotel. Readers of Condé Nast Traveller Middle East can vote for winners through the publication’s website,, and results will be announced during a red-carpet gala in November.

ShortList launches initiative to support Dubai Autism Center

ShortList UAE, an Arab Publishing Partners (APP) publication, has launched an ongoing initiative to support the Dubai Autism Center. A selected number of the magazine’s 75,000 copies in weekly circulation will now be sold for AED 1, beginning July 5, 2016 and all of the proceeds will go towards supporting the centre’s mission to educate and nurture children with Autism. The special copies of ShortList will be available from Spinneys, Carrefour, Geant, Choithram, Borders, Park N Shop and Kinokuniya.

Mary Katranzou to collaborate with Stylist Arabia

Fashion designer Mary Katrantzou has teamed up with Stylist Arabia magazine to guest edit a September issue of the weekly title. Enlisting the help of many of her friends, including make-up artists, models and philanthropists, Mary will be in charge of the issue, giving readers an exclusive sneak peak at her upcoming Spring/Summer 2016 collection. She will also be providing readers with her pick of products on the Style List and discussing the role of strong women in the fashion industry today, Mary will be joined on the cover by her long-term muse and supermodel, Yasmin Le Bon. The issue is scheduled for release on September 15, 2015.

“I am thrilled to be the Guest Editor of this issue of Stylist,” says Mary. “It has been an amazing experience to put my spin on a medium that I have never worked in before, and to challenge myself. Stylist presents such an important voice for modern women, so I wanted my issue to embrace this and celebrate women who have inspired me throughout my career.”

Judy Cogan joins ShortList UAE

Judy Cogan, former Lifestyle Editor for Friday magazine, has joined ShortList in the UAE as Deputy Editor. Judy has 10 years of writing experience, as well as a BA Hons in Journalism. As Deputy Editor, she will be supporting ShortList Editor-in-Chief, Eddie Taylor to produce the mass circulation weekly title ShortList in the UAE which is published by Arab Publishing Partners, part of ITP Publishing.

ShortList welcomes Amany Saghir

ShortList UAE, an Arab Publishing Partners publication, has welcomed Amany Saghir to the role of Advertising Manager. Having previously worked as Advertising Manager at Cosmopolitan, Amany has over two years of experience in advertising as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration.

In her new role with ShortList UAE, Amany will be responsible for finding and selling creative solutions to clients both online and in print. She will also deal with ShortList’s international offices, as well as media agencies.


Sarah Garden joins ShortList UAE

ShortList UAE has welcomed Sarah Garden as Digital Editor. Sarah will bring with her extensive editorial experience, both online and in print, as well a first-class honours degree in Journalism from Napier University in the UK. Prior to moving to ShortList, she worked at Motivate Publishing as a Features Editor for magazines including Emirates Woman, Emirates Bride and Harvey Nichols.

In her new role, Sarah will be editing ShortList’s soon-to-be-launched UAE websites, and shortlistabudhabi.comShortList UAE will be published by Arab Publishing Partners and will differ from its UK counterpart as it will be aimed at both men and women, covering a variety of subjects including new restaurants and bars, events and attractions, and shopping and style.
