alpha gets a makeover

Men’s lifestyle magazine alpha has been given a new look and more compact page size. The title, published by GN Publishing, also boasts several new sections and contributions from a host of new writers covering topics from celebrities to reportage to grooming and fitness. The redesign is a result of research into the magazine’s reader profile as well as readers feedback, and the new-look January issue is now available from leading retailers priced at AED 15.
“alpha is now enjoying its fifth year and we felt it was time to freshen up some of the content and give it a new look,” says Nitin Nair, Editor, alpha. “From January, readers can expect a much fuller magazine, with plenty of ‘how-to’ sections, additional UAE content, plus we’ve recruited a handful of exciting new writers who will complement the existing line-up. We’re sure our regular readers and people who have never read the magazine before will love it.”

Gulf News Publishing welcomes Mona Motamedi

Mona Motamedi has joined Gulf News Publishing as Events and Promotions Manager. Mona previously worked as an Account Manager at advertising agency Atom, and brings over 10 years of experience in marketing and events to her new role.

As Events and Promotions Manager, Mona will be responsible for events, promotions and marketing related to the branding of Gulf News Publishing titles such as Aquarius, Inside Out, Alpha, Wheels and Friday Magazine.

“My background is in marketing, it’s what I’ve done all my life,” says Mona. “However events are what I am passionate about. What better then, to combine both with a position in such a well established company as Gulf News!”

Sonam Basantani steps down at Gulf News

After three and a half years working as Beauty Writer & Stylist for Aquarius, Friday, Alpha and other contract publications, Sonam Basantani today steps down at GN Media. Sonam will move into a freelance role where she will focus on beauty styling and writing, plus fashion styling.

“I’m really looking forward to becoming a freelance stylist and writer,” says Sonam. “My time at Gulf News has really helped me grow in the areas I love and identify the direction I would like to move in. I am looking forward to some new and exciting projects.”

Savoir Flair to welcome new Beauty Editor

Frankie Rozwadowska will join Savoir Flair from March 29, 2015 as Beauty Editor, following her previous role as Group Beauty Editor at Gulf News Magazines. Having lived in London prior to moving to Dubai, Frankie has previous experience writing in-depth beauty features as Beauty Editor for fashion-focused, luxury magazine 1883 as well as for online wellness magazine Hip & Healthy. At Gulf News Mazagines, Frankie worked across various titles including Aquarius, Friday and Alpha.

Frankie Rozwadowska has joined the Gulf News team as Group Beauty Editor. Previously based in London, Frankie was Beauty Editor for fashion-focused, luxury magazine 1883, and Beauty Editor for online wellness magazine Hip and Healthy. In her new position, she will be working across the Aquarius, Friday, and Alpha magazines.
