MEConstructionNews.com, a portal to serve the Middle East’s expanding construction industry has been launched in Dubai. The venture comes about as an exclusive poll carried out by CPI Media Group revealed that 45 percent of regional professionals in the field prefer to read news online. MEConstructionNews.com will feature daily updates about the sector from a staff of journalists specialising in key topics, including consultancy, machinery and sustainability.

The platform is part of CPI Media Group, which publishes leading magazines including Big Project and Construction Machinery Middle East. Writers and editors from all titles, as well as the group’s international staff – in locations such as the UK and Germany – will be contributing regularly to the website.

Reach Media launches new title for Emiratis

Reach Media, the publishers of bi-monthly magazine Global Citizen, has launched a new luxury title for the domestic market entitled Emirati Citizen. The first of its kind, the bi-monthly newspaper features only Emiratis and is designed with a dual language format in English and Arabic.

“We mistakenly think that Emiratis know everything about each other because it’s such a small community, when that simply isn’t the case,” says Armand Peponnet, CEO of Reach Media and Publisher of Emirati Citizen. “There is demand for a title with high-quality journalism that will showcase the achievements of Emirati citizens to Emirati citizens, the nationals who have shaped one of the fastest growing economy’s in the world; the entrepreneurs, philanthropists, artists, visionaries and social businesses to their peers and the rest of the world.”

The first issue of Emirati Citizen was distributed in January as a supplement with its sister title, Global Citizen. Future issues will be stand-alone and can be found in all first class lounges in the UAE, financial district banks, law firms and government offices, all villas on the Palm Jumeirah, royal palaces, fine dining restaurants and selected cafés across Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Shilpa Abhilash promoted at arabianEye

Shilpa Abhilash has been promoted to the position of Account Manager at arabianEye. Having been with the company since 2013 as Account Executive, Shilpa has worked across a number of arabianEye’s editorial and commercial clients as it focuses on the distribution and production of stock images and videos in the MENA region. In her new position, she will now represent Corbis in the Middle East.

“Having lived and studied in Dubai all my life, I decided to build my career in this dynamic city and have worked at arabianEye ever since,” says Shilpa. “It’s been a rewarding and challenging experience – I’ve certainly learned a lot. Arabian Business welcomes new Chief Reporter

Sarah Townsend has joined the Arabian Business team as Chief Reporter. With over eight years of journalist experience, Sarah has contributed news and features to both national and specialist publications including the Financial Times, The Sun, The Daily Telegraph, Irish Times, Drapers and outdoor lifestyle website Wideworldmag.com. Sarah joins ITP Publishing from London where she was most recently Publications Editor at the Architects’ Journal, producing customer-led monographs, supplements and special reports in print and digital. In her new role, Sarah will be covering business news and current affairs across the GCC for the weekly business publication.

PRCo appoints new Account Director

Eleanore Longley has been appointed as Account Director at the Dubai office of luxury PR agency PRCo. Eleanore has worked in public relations for over six years, having gained experience at specialist luxury travel and restaurant agencies in London. She joins from Roche Communications where she held the position of Account Director since 2013 and prior to this was Account Manager for two years. Eleanore has been responsible for a number of high-profile restaurants, bars and hotels, including Brasserie Blanc, Drake & Morgan, Young’s Hotels, ‘rhubarb’, Pullman London St Pancreas, Revere, TwoRuba and Michelin-starred Northcote.

In her new role, Eleanore will play a key part in devising strategy and delivering results for PRCo’s existing clients, as well as overseeing the day-to-day activity of the team and expanding the business portfolio of the company.

Katie Trotter has joined Harper’s Bazaar Arabia as Fashion & Beauty Director. With more than a decade of experience in the fashion industry, Katie has worked as a Fashion Editor at the Daily Mail and most recently at Luxury Magazine, as well as producing and styling more than 50 high-spec fashion editorials worldwide for print media in the luxury sector, in addition to styling celebrities, advertising campaigns and TV commercials. Having lived in the UAE for a number of years, Katie will now apply her skills at ITP Publishing to oversee all fashion and beauty content for the premium monthly publication.
